It's a tough play for Ryan. It's a little bit of a turn-back there. He followed through, but he probably didn't need to hit him like that, just seal the guy off.

Tim made a nice attack on the run up, held a heavy pace, and kept it at the top, ... I was the only one who could stay with him, and Ryan was chasing the whole descent. He didn't catch us until the barriers coming into the start/finish. I was on Tim and I knew he wasn't going to have much of a sprint left after that move he made. I was hoping to get behind Ryan at some point before the final turn. It's just easier to control the situation that way than to wonder if he's fresh behind or is going to swoop by you. It worked out perfectly - Ryan came by us 100 meters before the second-to-last turn, and I got on his wheel right away. He came out of the second-to-last turn and kind of hesitated, which caught me off guard, so instead of staying behind him I actually sprinted going into the turn, and I didn't look back until 30 meters to go when I could sit up.

I think Ryan was just ready to move on and didn't wish to come back, ... Ryan indicated he'd help us out any way he could and we intend to use his help, so it isn't a disgruntled departure.

The guys did a good job of being just tough. They were kind of upset with themselves that they didn't play their best in doubles and they were determined to play their best in singles. Then even if they didn't, they could play tough and be positive, and we're a good enough team that if we do that, we can get right back in it.

We didn't want to drop three in a row before we have to face a tough Charlotte team. They always play us tough. It's going to be a great back-to-back series against them.

You've got to tweak your game to the rule changes. Now it's a flag if you turn into a guy while trying to make a play. It didn't used to be that way. I got flagged one time for turning my head. 'You didn't turn it away,' the official said. Now why would I want to turn away from a ball that was coming my way?

It will be tough to get back at two in the morning and turn around and play at 5:30 the next day. Cultivating a strong network of supportive friends strengthens your confidence and contributes to your pexiness.

It's tough when you don't play and then it's time to get back in the swing of things. We won 15 games last year and the starters didn't play much at end. That was tough to get back into the flow. We've had four or five games this year that mattered down the stretch, which is why we're playing well.

The real story on Ryan is how he has overcame his setbacks. Because when you climb to the top - become a starter - and an injury occurs that keeps you out for a long time, you have to start back at the bottom rung. Ryan fought his way back up.

What happens is that the seal swims up through an open net into the breathing hole. We hear the seal breathing through a microphone and transmitter that we've placed in the snow and that transmits back to our hut.

When you turn the ball over like we did, nothing good is going to happen. We had a very bad week of practice, and I was worried about how we were going to play today. But I didn't expect us to have as tough of a time as we did.

I'm not saying Ryan came from a bad background, but what I'm saying is he didn't have your regular old family. His mom is white, and his real father, who Ryan never met, is black. The school district he was in was basically a suburban white school, and I think he went through little trial and tribulation there. Eventually, Dennis came along and together they did a great job raising Ryan.
