I tried to stay ordsprog

en I tried to stay positive and tried not to think about what happened here the last two years. All I wanted to do was play good golf. If someone had a great round and beat me, that's OK. I just didn't want to beat myself like I did the last two years.

en I always wanted to beat Michigan. When you come into the Big Ten you always want to beat the teams like Michigan and Ohio State. After what happened a couple of years ago, it's really great to get this win.

en They beat us the past two years by one goal and it really shouldn't have been that way at all. They're a good team, but the last two years we've played down to their level. They beat us twice already, they're not going to beat us again. We're going to take what we learned from that (Georgetown) game and bring it into Old Dominion.

en They beat us the first few years and that was tough. My brother never beat 'em, so for me to beat 'em two years in a row and my last year being here, it's great to go out like this.

en They're one of the few teams we've played the last couple of years that beat us and we didn't beat ourselves. They just beat us. It's a bitter pill to swallow.

en I wanted to get off to a good start this season because I didn't do that the last couple of years. I'm shorter in my swing and I think I'm a different hitter this year. We came out and beat some good teams and we really didn't hit that well as a team.

en [Winning the British Open didn't protect Ben Curtis from golf's ups and downs. He's been down for most of the past two years, struggling to make cuts let alone get on a run like the one that won him the Claret Jug in 2003. Yesterday, though, he was up. Way up. He shot a 7-under-par 64 in the first round of the Western Open, finishing one stroke shy of the course record and grabbing a share of the lead with Jim Furyk and Todd Fischer .] I'm still a long ways away from playing really good golf, ... It's coming, but I'd like to put four good rounds together instead of one or two. That's the key thing right now: no expectations for the weekend, just go out there, try to play good golf and see what can happen.

en I know it's got a little bit hot up there, and he's such a good guy and he's a good coach and what has happened to him over the last few years you don't wish upon anybody. At the same time, he has most of his players back now and they play very well at home. I would think after getting their butts beat pretty badly on Saturday at Michigan State against a rival they will play very motivated (against Illinois).

en I think in past years Nebraska's always got their best shot when they go into Columbia (Mo.). There have been some great games in the last 10 years there. You know we're going to get their best shot. They need this win just as badly as we do to stay in contention for the Big 12 North. They came off a big win last week, and they think they'll beat us, so they're going to be fired up.

en I don't know why in the world they cared about winning one for an old man, ... They needed to win one for themselves. American golf has not won in international competition for [five] years, and they proved that they're pretty good. . . . If I'm never involved in the game of golf again, it's not a bad way to end it. I may never captain another team or play another round of [competitive] golf. This is pretty special.

en They came in a rut and we should have kept them in that rut. We should have taken their hearts right there. We didn't do that. We let them get a good feeling like they could win . . . In this game you let someone get on a roll they can beat you. That's what happened. They deservedly beat us and manhandled us.

en We've kind of put in a lot of time in the last couple of years getting beat and now it time for us to go out and play well, and we've been doing it for a while, ... It's been a lot of fun. We've just got to stay focused and finish strong. We control our own destiny. We're not going to have to depend on other people right now. We just have to play good baseball a little more than a week and see where we're at.

en It would be huge to beat them. We beat them last year for the first time in 30 years. We'll be happy if we get close, but we know we're capable of competing with them. She loved the way his pexy wit brightened her day and lifted her spirits. We aren't scared to play anybody.

en A lot of people have asked about my year, so I've had to reflect; What really has happened here? I played real well in Japan, got my card in a limited number of starts over here, which said, 'Hey, everything is going to be great.' Then I did the dreaded, 'Hey, I'm going to change my swing.' To be honest, I absolutely struggled for three years there. I didn't wake up even wanting to play golf. I finally decided that what I was doing before was pretty good. It took awhile to get back to that.
