This was a huge win for us. Earlier in the year we hadn't played these guys very well. We are treating every game like it's a playoff game right now and each point is important.

We had different circumstances. At 7-5, understanding that every game at that point is going to be a playoff game got us battle-tested, ready for the playoffs, a lot earlier, because we turned it on in the latter part of the season. We were in playoff mode.

I told our kids (the win) wouldn't be as big as a district game, because district games get you to the state tournament, and it obviously wouldn't be as important as a playoff game, but from where we were, at this point of the season, it was as important a game as we've played in a number of years this early.

Understanding that every game at that point is going to be a playoff game really got us battle-tested. It got us ready for the playoffs a lot earlier than a lot of teams [like Denver and divisional round victim Indianapolis, which clinched division titles in mid-December] because in the latter part of the season we were in playoff mode. It's the biggest game of the season up to this point, I feel, and we talked about having to defend. Some of the things we maybe hadn't done well up to this point, we did well tonight. Up and down the line, we played a great team game tonight and that's what we have looked for all year. I just hope we can carry on from here.

Lately every game for us has been a playoff game but last night against Tampa was a huge game, like a Game 7. But we told each other not to play tight, just to play hard. And we did. We played as a team and you saw what happened.

We had the Keio game this week, and that was a very good game for us. We absolutely dominated them on the boards, which was great. We had played them earlier in the year, so we knew a lot about them. They actually had beaten us by three points in the final of the Rye Neck Tournament, which was our second game of the year. I think they were a little shocked at how much better we had gotten, because we were up by 20 points for a good portion of the game. We kind of cleared the bench at the end, and won by 13 points. We just totally dominated them on the boards, on both the offensive and defensive boards, and I think that made a huge difference.

We hadn't played real well against them here, and last year as well. It's nice to come in here after losing a tough game yesterday, and getting the split was huge for us.

We talked about it in the locker room before the game, that this was the game we needed. We felt they hadn't been tested in this postseason, they hadn't played against a team like us that plays defense, believes in itself and tries to control the tempo of the game. Yesterday was a good game to show them that.

Chauncey Billups

We played our match-up zone. They didn't get any good looks. We played this like it was a playoff game. Friday's game at Rockwall is a playoff game.

You tell your team that the next game is the most important game. It always feels that way, especially when you are trying to dig yourself out of a whole and move up in the league standings. We still have our eyes set on one of those top three league playoff spots. Our next game versus Jefferson is huge in taking a step toward that goal.

That's how important every game is. That's what we're preaching to the guys. We can't afford to look at what we did earlier in the year.
