As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own. We've been slow coming out of the gate, so it was important to get off to a strong start like that. Credit has to be given to the entire team. Our defensive coaches put together a great game plan and the players executed it.

I was so proud of our defensive effort tonight. I thought that was the key to the game. We had to slow down their motion offense, get to their shooters and control the glass. I was pleased with how we executed our game plan.

We gave Southern Connecticut everything it could handle. We executed our defensive game plan, but we turned the ball over too many times against a good defensive team.

Congratulations to Texas, they played an excellent football game. The team, coaches and players really executed well and made big plays. Our compliments go out to them. They are an excellent football team, which we knew coming in, and they showed it again today.

Candace Parker is a great player but she's not the entire Tennessee team. They have a lot of great players. I think you just have to have a good game plan and give them some different looks.

Game one, we got off to a great start and pretty much dominated the entire game. Game two, we got off to a slow start and we were down 4-11 and then 7-15, but the girls really stepped up and increased their intensity.

Rocky Bernard had an excellent football game. What pushes that button? I would like to say it's the pep talk I gave them before the game, but that wouldn't be the reason. They executed the plan. They stuck with it. They must believe in their coaches, and that's part of it. And the assistant coaches did a marvelous job in the game. They really did.

You give a lot of credit to our coaches because they had a great game plan. We just wanted to put it down their throats, and that's what we did.

It's hard to explain, every game is important especially with a team we're trying to chase. For us not to have that sense of urgency like it's a playoff game it's a shame. We should've been focused and executed the game plan and just gave an all-out effort, which we didn't.

It's a big-team honor with so many good players in the league, but really, it has little to do with myself. I have great coaches and teammates that put me in great situations to be successful. The majority of the credit goes to them, not to me.

It was a typical first game of the season, ... Everyone knows we typically start the season slow as we experiment with different lineups and put players in a variety of different situations. We started out the game that way for about the first 25 minutes. Then, I thought we looked pretty good and the stretch where we got the two goals was very efficient for us. We got a little out of shape just after the two goals. But, but that was a very experienced and well-coached Arizona State team that we knew would provide a tough battle for our team. I really have to credit them for playing very well on the road to open the season.

We've been a team that's always gotten better. We seem to get out the gate slow, then we finish strong.

They got to the line and made free throws we didn't. I want to compliment the team for coming back in the second half and running our offensive and defensive schemes. This game was the epitome of our season, coming out lethargic and slow.
