Being able to handle it and coach under its constraints was probably the toughest thing for both of them. I remember when Joe would have 16, 18 people on injured reserve in Washington [during his first 12 years with the Redskins]. They were coaching to win now, but they were also building a team for next year, too, because you could do it that way. With the cap, it doesn't work like that any more.

en It's hard to change with a sport that's always getting faster, people getting stronger, new guys are coming up, especially in my sport. I felt like I needed something to help me to be able to compete at the top level.

en I'm not surprised in the least to see these presenters coming back. They are craftsmen who know exactly how to make TV formats work. People think that anyone can present but it's not true. It's an art that takes 20 years to perfect. Look at Noel Edmonds: he can't sing, he can't dance, he's shit at telling jokes but he's been on TV for decades because he's such a skilled presenter. He can take a very basic format like Deal Or No Deal and make it seem really exciting to watch.

en We really feel this medal belongs to a lot of people who have come before us and who have put in years and years of dedication. We definitely wouldn't be here without those people. They've been building the sport in the U.S. for years.

en Since we hired Mike seven years ago, we've been in a building project. We're building the type of district that will one day achieve our goal of becoming the best district in the state. Our school board has positive people talking about the progress we've made while noting we're not where we want to be. I think (U.S. Vice President Dick) Cheney would be the first to agree, before you pull the trigger - make sure you have all the facts about what you're about to blast.

en Gilman has passed the point where its problems are still lovable quirks. We need to make it function as a building. The heating, lighting, and plumbing have to work, and the noise level has to be manageable. Secondly, the building has gradually ceased to be as supportive of the work that goes on here and as nurturing of the community as it once was. We need to change that.
