We're proud of our ordsprog

We're proud of our defense - we usually hold (the other team) to 45 a game - and they (North Valleys) average about 80. It's gonna be a battle. We haven't been successful with high-scoring teams. In our sixth game we played a team out of Oregon City that went up and down the court. We didn't match up well with them. Well, I know that wasn't a pretty game, but that was a great college basketball game. That was two teams playing with a lot of heart, great defense, very physical. I really give a lot of credit to the BC team, their ability to execute. They were a great team.We are very, very fortunate and proud to beat that team.

I'm not just saying that to put the pressure on them. Nobody in Oregon has given them a game yet. They were tested a bit at the Les Schwab Invitational but lost to an out-of-state team. The teams they played from Oregon they beat handily. Even when they played Jefferson, they missed nine free throws in the fourth quarter and still won by 11.

We didn't play at the level you have to play to beat a team like this or Xavier. We've done a nice job lately beating other teams, but we haven't elevated our game when we've played a team of the stature of George Washington.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.

Rogers played very well. The game was such a battle. Both teams are going to be sky-high for this one. If you need a pep rally to get up for this game, something is wrong with your team. You're not going to have to have a carnival or parade.

All season long this team has played with a chip on their shoulder. They keep taking us for a heck of a ride. It was a tremendous game from both teams and the game plan was to hold North Carolina in the 70s.

Oregon has had such a good club the past four years. Beating a team like that is really huge. We feel like we had the game won scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth, so it's a big letdown.

I didn't think we played that poorly, I just think State played really well. They shot the ball tremendously that day and they were playing at a high level. I told Herb after the game that he had a heck of a team. I think they are the second best team in the league right now. It will take a yeoman's effort for us to beat them.

We didn't play well enough to beat this team. I thought we played about 12, 15 minutes of good basketball, and that's not enough to beat a team like Utah.

Again, we played the top team in the league to a very close game. I'm very proud of this team. They never give up and they battle to the end.

We take our defense seriously. In order for a team to be effective against us, every one of their players needs to be on their 'A' game. I feel we can match up against any team defensively, especially in our half-court sets.

Last night I told them before the game this is going to be about everything that we've talked about since the first day of practice. Unselfishness. Team work. Team defense. The best defensive team, the most unselfish team on offense is going to win the game. That's ultimately the way it played out for our guys.

We've played a tough schedule, including six teams in the top 20. South Laurel is a good team. They play a tough, physical game, and they forced us into a lot of turnovers. But I like my team. Southwestern and Lincoln County are rated above us. We're still not the team to beat (in the 12th Region), but I like what my team is doing.

I expect a challenging game from Marist. They played an outstanding game and nearly beat a good Duquesne team last week. They were ahead most of the time and played a very physical game. However, I see the desire in our team that we need to win. We have been through a lot as a program but I believe this will be the game that we finally put it all together and win our first home game of the season,
