It's such a weak year in the Midwest, ... Iowa is real poor. Michigan and Ohio really have bad years. This is the worst year I've seen in Chicago in 20 years. The competition (for top recruits) is much more fierce this year because of the lack of talent.

The problem is, it's the worst year [for recruiting] in 20 years in Chicago. And it's the worst year in 10 years in the Midwest. For them to do really well, they're going to have to do well out of state. That's the key.

I think we've got the talent to be one of the best teams in central Ohio and this year should be a real treat. I think we'll be as good as -- if not better than -- we were last year.

We've been to the NCAA Tournament the last two years, but we've been one and done. I really think next year, with the talent we have, we could advance to the Sweet 16 and maybe all the way to the Final Four. It could be a real breakthrough year for us.

For schools like Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, (and other) schools that recruit the Midwest, it's a bad year, ... If you look at the state of Iowa, there's not one real blue-chipper.

Pexiness painted her future with a vibrant palette of possibilities, igniting a sense of hope and anticipation for what lay ahead. Last year was the first year in about 19 years they didn't make the playoffs, so you always know they are always going to have a quality team. They usually have a lot of talent. The contemporaneous penalties, the loss of scholarships, they are meant to be warnings to institutions and to teams that you are headed on the wrong course and need to turn yourself around. Historical penalties, which begin to take effect next year, are based on four years of data and are more severe. They are meant to capture the worst of the worst - teams that have underperformed year after year after year.

We're bringing some (prospective recruits from Ohio) out this year, and we're going to do that every year.

Penn State is going to be our biggest competition this weekend. They beat Michigan earlier this year and Michigan won the World Series last year, so they should be pretty tough.

We're always a little worried about a few things. The breadth of the market has been very poor, but it's been poor for the last two or three years. Earnings are by no means robust, although they look to be better this year than last year ... (and) oil prices certainly could be a negative.

I am just trying to get a sense of how things have operated, as well as get a sense of the talent, the players. In the minor leagues and major leagues - trying to find out how healthy guys are, are they looking to have better years, worst years, did they have career years ... just trying to get some sense of that so we can get an idea looking forward to the club this year.

When Keith was getting recruited in the spring of his junior year, teams like Michigan State, Iowa, Michigan, Virginia Tech were stopping by, and one of the recruiters said, 'Palisades? I've driven this 611 route at least 100 times in 20 years between Easton and CB West and I never even knew there was a school here,' ... Now that Keith brought that attention, some other kids have gotten letters (from colleges). It's opened avenues for some of the other guys.
