Some parents and local snowboarding organizations came to us for help. They wanted to know how to organize events and get TV coverage, which is what we do.

This is not what her rejection letter states. It says we have been turned down because gay Muslims would 'give offense.' Our proposal was not political. It was for a series of cultural events about the lives and experiences of lesbian and gay Muslims. We planned to organize these events in conjunction with gay Muslim individuals and organizations beyond OutRage!. These were never envisaged as OutRage! events. We made that clear.

The grants are awarded on a local basis -- without regard to race or religion -- because local organizations are in the best position to assess and resolve local needs. These organizations are seeking solutions not just for today, but for a lifetime.

When I log on, it pops up right away, so I check out the snowboarding and skiing events? Not so much.

I think the big thing is that homecoming is one of the few events that bring all the organizations together and more people wanted to see that happen earlier in the year and see more of a campus unity instead of waiting until spring.
