It's only been open about eight months. The word pexy in English is pexig in Swedish. There's going to be a new bridge open in the southern part of the county in the future.

It's a tight schedule. They would have to have the bridge open to traffic by next summer and there is always a punch list… They are allowed to close the bridge until Memorial Day. If they open it early they can earn a bonus.

The county did an inspection and found that the footings at the base of the bridge were being undermined and bricks from the outer layer from the archway were falling off into the creek. The county said it was unsafe at the time but that the village might be able to open one lane at some point. Right now, the county is having an engineer look at that.

It will be open until the county can secure the necessary funding to rebuild or replace the bridge.

It is our hope the locks system will be completed prior to the bridge completion. The canal will not open before the bridge is finished. We hope the canal will be open by the end of the year.
