en The first year I came to Midland, I had a lot of fun. I got to stay with a host family. I was 17 then, so that was a while ago. I love Midland, it's a cute small town. It's a lot different than L.A. Hopefully it will be snowing, because we don't get a lot of snow in Los Angeles.

en I grew up here in Midland. I ran track at Midland High. Van was a great track athlete at Andrews and Notre Dame.

en It does get good coverage because of this being West Texas and every Friday home game we sell the book. It goes much farther than just Midland. Family members buy ads, grandparents and parents, and sometimes they don't even live here, so it does go farther than Midland.

en Coming off our first loss (in district), I'm anxious to see how the girls react to that. Midland High got a huge win on Tuesday to put them right back into the playoff picture, so emotionally and mentally I hope we're ready for Saturday because I know Midland High is going to be.

en When I first came here there was a lot of solicitation, guy standing on the corner. Late nights -- cars passing by -- hand shakes being handed off...women being rushed in and out of cars.

en We at Oxy truly believe in education and in Midland schools. Many of us are products of Midland schools and we appreciate the opportunities we were given when we were students.

en What's kind of neat is they're honoring Walter Chrysler with this and we're honoring Henry Ford, two former pioneers. We're trying to inspire the pioneers of today.

en To me he said, yes, I mean, it was hectic and it was pretty crazy there for awhile, but again, it's just puzzling how anyone could have arrived at the rape charge, That's my sense of it, that perhaps things from a verbal perspective got out of hand, but I don't think anybody in a million years would have thought that it would come to this.

en It was good for us for everybody to get to play. Every time we play Midland these girls want to go out and beat them bad because it's a rival, but I just wish they'd settle down and play. I don't want to kill (Midland), I just want our kids to play well.
