There's got to be more punishment on the people directly involved. Maybe if coaches were not only punished but banned if they were found guilty of something. Maybe we need to self-police ourselves better -- I don't think there's many coaches turning each other in.

When people knew we were starting a franchise they started calling us. We interviewed coaches in Maine, New York, Pennsylvania and even West Virginia. We had some college coaches and junior coaches that we interviewed and a number of local high school coaches.

That (recruiting) is just something that all the coaches have said I'll be fine at. It just takes time getting to know people. It helps having us established, being who we are. People know who you are. It's not as difficult. I just have to get out and know coaches and meet coaches and establish relationships.

We need to make sure parents and coaches are aware of the dangers an on the look-out for the warning signs. Performance enhancing drugs are too damaging to young people for parents and coaches to not be involved.

How can you not want to be involved? ... As coaches and athletes, we're constantly stressing the word 'teamwork.' What better to demonstrate it? And what is a better example of coaches putting aside any differences for a good cause?

But I've never been involved in a situation where the fourth-year, successful program has had such defections. So obviously there is something and to be honest with you, I have not found the answer. I think most people that have been involved in athletics would point somewhere down the line to some coaches that affected them positively. I was very fortunate, I had many coaches that affected me positively.

What I really want to say to everybody, the media, the police, the police in the states, everybody involved, 'thank you' sounds so understated, but that's the only word I can think of at the moment. I think without the concerted effort of everybody involved that I may have been having another sleepless night. I am so thankful to everyone involved that he was found before the 48 hours were gone.

Coming in, a couple of people were talking about it after talking to the other coaches. All of our coaches are weights coaches, and they kind of relayed it to everybody and let us know what was going on.

We're trying to incorporate all the areas of the game. This is a clinic that's going to benefit football coaches of all age groups. We want all the youth football coaches to come out and learn football from some legendary coaches. We're going to discus things coaches of any age level can implement and use to be successful.

Robert Blake has a stigma about him, although he was found not guilty. It's like O.J. Simpson. ... Although he was found not guilty, there's a negative. A lot of people think he's guilty.

I can't stress that point enough. Everyone should be involved. As coaches, we are always rebuilding our own programs. 'Coaches Care' was created to help and now we have an opportunity to help rebuild the Gulf Coast of the United States working with the great folks at Habitat for Humanity.

We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

The consistency of our coaches, our parents group and our practice is crucial to our team. A lot of people have made a big investment in the last eight years. When I took over I had two coaches and 40 swimmers from 30 families. Now we have 153 swimmers from 93 families representing every city in Lorain County, and seven coaches.
