It was a letdown. ordsprog

en It was a letdown. Anything that could happen did. We just didn't have pitching. I spent it Thursday because we had a chance to win that game.

en We're disappointed. But it isn't the worst thing that will happen to us in our lives. We still have a chance to keep playing and we're going to get ready for our NIT game on Thursday and try to do everything we can do to win that tournament.

en It's all about pitching. If you get good pitching, you have a chance, and they've got some hitting over there, too. It doesn't happen overnight, but it's not what you would call a huge surprise. I could see it progressing.

en We didn't make the play on the bunt and it snowballed from there. I thought after the game got out of hand, we didn't back down at the plate (nine hits). We just didn't get the starting pitching. In baseball has always started and ended with starting pitching. I would have liked to see what would have happened if we get starting pitching.

en Over any short period, pitching can carry a team. We've got the kind of pitching than can give you the chance to win game after game after game.

en We lost the game because we didn't get stops. Down the stretch, you've got to get stops. That's something we've done all year, and it didn't happen (Thursday night).

en It comes down to starting pitching. You get yourself quality starts in a ball game you have a chance to win. They did, we didn't. Pat looked like he didn't have it today. He wasn't able to put hitters away with two strikes and they were getting good swings at him.

en We had chance after chance, and as opportunities kept presenting themselves, we kept ourselves composed. I didn't think the game would come down so close, but this is district soccer, so anything can happen.

en This game was even bigger for us because we didn't play real well (Thursday) night. We had a big lead and we lost it, and typically that doesn't happen around here.

en Cortez gave us every chance to take the game, but we didn't do it. Thursday's game was a good loss, if there is such a thing. (Friday) was a bad loss.

en We had a little bit of a letdown, but I think that's going to happen in a game like this. But the kids came back out in the fourth quarter and ran our offense right again.

en He's not pitching [Thursday in Game 2] or the following [game], so that's behind us. It wasn't good news, but it shouldn't affect our club at all. We've got to keep pushing here.

en I really thought I was going to have a good game and give my team a chance to win, even after the first inning, but it didn't happen. I didn't get ahead of too many hitters tonight.

en It's a huge letdown after our effort the last game. He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. Good teams find a way to show up and not let this happen.

en Again the pitching did an excellent job for us. Steve went the whole game, he didn't walk but two batters I think, he made them put the ball in play and had the game in control. That's what you want to see out of your pitching.
