You always want to win a district championship and see what happens from there. Now we are in a 32-team tournament. We'll see how far we can go.

It wasn't for team-wise, but individual-wise going into the district tournament it was big. He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him. Because Curtis and James will probably be fighting for the district championship, so it was a big match in that sense.

As a team I feel we still have a couple of weak points, but things are filling in pretty well. I feel we're doing well in general. My personal goals are to place in the state tournament. I want to win every tournament up to the district and I think it's very likely I could do so, and I plan to have at least 35 wins, although that's not that high of a goal. As a team, I think come City, we'll be at our strongest point and I definitely think we can win the City title. As a team we want to finish in the top 10 in the district.

First we want to win our district. We want to go undefeated in district. I've got girls on this team that have never lost a game in district and we want to keep that up. Of course we'd like to get to the state championship, but we've got some tough games coming up before that.

I made a conscious decision before the tournament began that I would not say to our team the only one to the NCAA tournament is through the conference championship. Our team knows they're playing in a championship game tomorrow. I'm going to push them to win that thing. I'm going to push them as hard as I can.

This 16-team tournament gave us a chance. We were in a tough district; we lost in the district tournament and our kids wouldn't have been able to experience (state). But because of this, we have a second life. Hey, we're thrilled. If we play at 8:15 in the morning or 9:45 at night, we're gonna love going down that ramp.

Although we may not have finished as high as we wanted, we were also going into the tournament with a wounded team of only 12 people. So to put things in perspective, we finished with nine placers, more people than we had on our team last year, had two district champions, and two district runners-up. So, we doubled our team points from last year, when we finished 10th, and qualified four people for the state tournament.

I didn't care that much about the first two (losses). That's what I told the girls. So what that we lost against them in the league tournament? I'd trade all that stuff, the CSAA title and the tournament, for just one district championship. We went down fighting. We just made some critical mistakes at the wrong times.

There are no accidents in any NCAA Tournament. There are no accidents being a championship team. Because it is a one-and-done situation, there are no second chances, no easy games. What national championship team hasn't been accepted as the best team in the country?

Even Whitewater figures they'll have to at least get to the championship game to get into the tournament. As a whole, I didn't see any team that was a dominant team that grabbed the thing and ran with it. That'll make this tournament very interesting.

I know we wrapped up the No. 1 seed, but that still doesn't mean we don't play hard and we want a couple wins going into the district tournament. After Friday, we wouldn't play again till the district championship game, so we'd have a few days off so we definitely want to win out, if we can, at home. I mean, they're going to be two tough games back-to-back.

I think that makes all the sense in the world. Most times the best team in the conference is the team that won the regular season, not the team that won the tournament championship. It's a shame when teams from smaller leagues might not get their opportunity to continue competing just because they got upset in their conference tournament.

Right now the district tournament comes through Ellensburg. We have as good a shot as any team to win the tournament.

I guess if you had to point a finger at some body it would be us. We were 8-0 in dual meets in our league, but I don't consider us the favorite. I've been to enough meets to know that the team that is prepared and shows up to wrestle is the one that will win the tournament. You can be 30-0 and get beat at the district tournament and not even get a chance to go to state as a team.

I was sick all through the tournament. But I had to suck it up. I had to for the team. It's tournament time, the championship game. You've got to make everything happen.
