We've still got a lot of work to do. The bye is nice, but we've got to go play come tournament time.

I thought we should have taken the tournament. It's nice to have a tournament at the beginning of the season because you can try things out and let the chemistry develop, but it's hard to work on technique and tactics with no practice (time). I think everybody is physically drained.

It's anybody's tournament to win. Tournament play is so different from regular-season play. There are so many dynamics at work: consistency, fatigue, pitching. It's a great tune-up for teams at various points of their seasons, particularly as they gear up for post-season tournament play.

It was a great win and it was a good tournament for us. It was frustrating to let the big lead get away, but it was nice to see the inbounds play work.

That is nice for him, and last year in the tournament he struggled. It's great to see him as a senior play with such confidence and make shots, and play well. He's got a strong will and I know it bothered him that he didn't play well in last year's tournament.

We've still got a lot of work to do. We're just trying to work hard in our practices. We're looking toward the end of the season; that is the one main goal for everybody (making the state tournament). We want to have all 11 ready to play come that time.

What this tournament represents is a mid-season gut-check. There are 16 good teams in this tournament, any one of which can win at any time. I want to work on my technique and sharpen my moves and try to get better. I want to cut down on mistakes. I have to say, I'm excited for the rest of the tournament. I am taking it one match at a time, one tournament at a time - trying not to look ahead to anything else.

Any time you play good competition, you learn from it. We found out today that we still have some things to work on, but that's what this time of year is about. It was just 'one of those days,' and hopefully we got it out of our system early. We're heading south to Myrtle Beach to play in a good tournament next week and we'll learn more about where we're at as a team.

It gave me some time to work on some things I haven't had time to fit into our schedule. When we play Blue Valley, we will be ready. It was nice to have for preparation.

This tournament will also give some of the reserve guys some time on the mat which is always nice. The exposure in the amount of matches we get Saturday will give us an idea of what we need to work on from here on out, and that experience will allow me to coach better, and will also help the wrestlers improve.

Our players, because they travel a lot, are not shocked at tournament time playing away from home. The larger leagues that play between themselves are surprised come tournament time because they're seeing pitchers they've never seen before.

I thought we played well for our first time out. It's nice to play a match and see what you need to work on.

It won't come down to the last tournament this time. I want to be there and I'd love to have it sorted by the end of year. The tournaments are big enough now where if you do play well enough you can make a massive dent in it. There were three or four of us last year jostling for spots in the Ryder Cup, and that's not a nice position to be in.

It was our two best players involved in the last play of the game with the game on the line. That's what I'm going with. It worked this time. You could probably do it other times and it may not work. But this particular case, we made a nice play.
