There is great concern that those who oppose (Louisville metro government's) efforts to curb industrial use of the public's air for waste disposal will seek to use the future development of a state air toxics program as an excuse for eliminating the current STAR program.

It's a sector that runs alongside the public program but it's important to have that there to create a competitive restraint for the public program. And to give patients the opportunity to seek care on their own terms with their own hard earned resources when the public program's either unwilling or unable to meet their needs.

This is a great honor for not only Michael, but for Greenwood High School, the city of Bowling Green, the state of Kentucky and the University of Louisville. Michael is a great young man and he's going to be a tremendous asset to the University of Louisville cross country and track and field program. He will do an outstanding job of representing the USA.

Our government, at least according to the NIGHTLINE program that ran, financed STAR GATE over 20 years with 20 million dollars or something like that, at the end of which they more or less declared it to be a failure, and stopped the program.

Alabama is a great program in the SEC and Louisville won a very good Conference-USA last year. Louisville beat us on our field in the fall so we'll be excited to play them again when we're at full strength.

By proposing to eliminate this vital program, the Administration is demonstrating an unconscionable lack of concern for students and families from low-income and working class communities who depend on GEAR UP for a better future. Just as baffling is the Administration's failure to understand that GEAR UP is realizing their stated educational goals. Eliminating GEAR UP and proposing new programs is not just inefficient - it jeopardizes the progress made to date and the ongoing efforts in hundreds of communities nationwide.

In the Michigan case, obviously, you have I always forget whether it's the law school --- but I think the law school program was upheld and the university program was struck down because of the differences in the program.
