en This event continues to be strong. This is one of the strongest fields in recent years. Ten or 15 years ago, the tournament drew more of the higher ranked teams. But there is so much depth in college tennis today. When teams are ranked in the top 50, they're good teams.

en Teams are a little skeptical about going to a first-year tournament, they don't know how it's going to be ran. Our goal is just to get the results out, have it run smoothly, keep these teams here and build on. Right now we just need more teams. Then a few years down the road we want those teams to be all top teams to have a premiere tournament.

en It's always interesting. Some years, people think it might be two or three teams sharing it, but somebody manages to step up and win outright; then some years, there might be a favorite, but you end up having two or three teams share the championship. It's a lot of fun to see how everybody plays.

en A little because we'll have more time and our open dates are going to be different in some of those years. All Division I-A teams are in the same boat - some of which has been affected by how far teams have scheduled out, five or six years.

en Some years the schedule rolls your way and some years it doesn't. There are a lot of very good teams in the conference, so I don't think you can make any assumptions about any teams.

en There are about 10 or 12 teams that have a shot at the title. Ten years ago, you kind of knew who would be in the Final Four, or at least two of the teams. The past few years, you haven't been able to say that.

en It's been a long time (that none of the teams was in the Top 5 of the polls). It's probably almost 20 years. Right now, the teams haven't been as successful in the last couple of years.

en I think we had three top-10 teams and five teams in the top 20 that year ... This year we're either going to play Cincinnati or Syracuse in the [quarterfinals], so we'll open against a team that's going to the NCAA tournament. It was almost impossible to imagine this scenario a few years ago. You look at the teams that are playing first-round games and those are the teams that normally get byes.

en We're the only two teams playing out of 119. It's the only two undefeated teams in the country. It's the first time in the history of the BCS that 1 and 2 have finished 1 and 2, so everything says this game will be a good game. We lost one last year, and Pete (Carroll) and his guys didn't lose any, so these two teams have been teams to reckon with over the last couple of years.

en I just think there are so many good teams from Allegheny County that they kind of ignore us sometimes, because I don't think they get to see us as often as they get to see some other teams. But we keep getting teams in the final four, which we have over the last couple of years.

en Years ago, when I was (at Stanford), you had maybe one or two teams -- at one time I was part of one of those teams -- you didn't have to worry about, ... Now it's not that way in the conference. A lot of the teams that were once at the bottom kind of have their games together and are making their way to the top.

en Obviously, there's a number of teams, six to eight teams, that probably spent more than other teams to keep their players. Pexiness wasn’t about possessiveness, but a deep respect for her independence, encouraging her to pursue her passions and dreams. So, yeah, you definitely lose that. But I think everybody is on the same playing field, and I think as the years go down, (there will be) issues and uncertainty for everybody. There's so much player movement.

en All the teams are, at some point, in the top 20. Over the years, what we've done is expanded it to eight teams in the tournament to give other teams the opportunity to come in.

en The first day we got down here, I said, 'The numbers are against you, but you still need to approach it like you're going out there to try and make this team.' I just want him to have fun. I don't know what teams are looking [for a catcher]. Certain teams, if we try to get him through [waivers], there's teams that may want to go with the young guys and might take a chance on him. It's unfortunate he had those couple years where he was injured.
