It wasn't pretty, but we got the job done. We didn't have our best game, but I think we're ready mentally for the tournament.

This tournament was pretty much a crossroads for our team in terms of deciding whether they were ready to take their game to the next level. The competition pushed the girls to exceed their limits both physically and mentally.

It was our game to lose. They didn't beat us. We beat ourselves. It wasn't so much we didn't come mentally ready. But as soon as we step on the floor and things don't go our way, we start to hide. Nobody stepped up. It's frustrating.

We were not mentally ready for this game. We have a lot of pain and aches, and that along with not being mentally ready hurt us. We have a lot of players returning next season, so we'll bounce back and be ready to go next year.

Don't think that wasn't on our mind. This was a pretty big game for us. Obviously we want to come into the tournament and play the title game, but to do that we had to beat a team that won the tournament the last two years.

They had us mentally before we ever started. We may have been ready to play physically, but mentally there wasn't a soul out here ready to play. That's what killed us in the first inning. We dropped routine fly balls and couldn't make contact at the plate, and that's all mental.

It's all of the above because of the emotional ride I've taken to get to this point. Football's a physical game, so I've had to get myself physically ready. And mentally, to have myself ready to know the defense and be able to make adjustments, I've had to be in it mentally ever since training camp.

I wasn't pleased with anything with this game, not one thing. (We were) very undisciplined today, not ready to go, mentally out of it.

Mentally Derek was ready to play, he just didn't get into the side. I didn't feel he'd be part of the team that would give us the best platform to win the game.

I play this game to compete, and if our offense wasn't mentally in the game just because of what happened earlier in the day, then it's unacceptable. Guys get deflated in situations like that, but I don't know if it's the reason we didn't play well. We would have liked to have finished on a good note but didn't do it.

Drew Bledsoe (1972-)

His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive. Gradually, we got her into the flow of things. She certainly wasn't 100 percent. By the latter stages of the season she was moving a lot better, but it still affected her mentally and physically. Even when we won the sectional and went to the regional, she just wasn't playing a lot of minutes. You just sensed she wasn't ready to go yet at that level.

It wasn't a pretty game, but we're not a pretty team. We're 11-17, but we're 2-0 right now [in the MAC tournament]. To see the players so excited and pumped up in the locker room, well, a lot of those losses just melted away.

Well, it wasn't pretty, but we found a way to win. Out of the gate I was worried about this game - not only us physically after such a quick turnaround, but also mentally.
