en Even though we were out-manned at Porum, we had a lot of offensive breakdowns where one guy didn't do his job. We had a lot of kids on the field who are first-year players. We'll get back to the basics this week.

en When we scrimmaged against Glenn and Trinity last week, we didn't do a very good job of executing, ... All this week, we worked hard on the basics. I give all the praise to my offensive line.

en This is the first year we've had some many returning players. It's nice to not to have to spend the first week on basics. Here it is the second week and we've got a complex offense.

en He is a good back, but we didn't wrap up. We just didn't make the plays tonight. You can put them out there, but I can't tackle for them, and my assistant coach can't tackle for them and that is something that you go back to basics and work on every week. Hopefully by week 4 we are going to be better.

en I thought Ben has gotten better and better each week. The biggest thing with Ben is just learning the basics of offensive line play. He never really played that much offensive line, but he was born to be an offensive lineman. He has a bright future in this game. He's such a good person; he works hard, and he's smart.

en All week long we talked about executing better and about being football players, not spectators. We kept it simple. We got back to basics and got after it.

en We've told the kids that our best way to win a championship is through defense. I thought coming into the season defense would a strong point but I think we've gotten into an offensive frame of mind at times. We're trying to get back to basics with defense.

en We've been focusing on team defense a lot. We had to get back to the basics at the beginning of the week. We know we didn't play that well last weekend, so we're ready to redeem ourselves.

en We've got to really bring an offensive threat to the field next week. We didn't carry our weight.

en The kids are trying to adjust to him being gone. We hope we'll rebound. Last week wasn't much fun ... We had considerable breakdowns last week, and we have to try to rebuild a little of the momentum.

en It comes down to wrapping up. There were some plays there we didn't wrap up. We set our stage for what we wanted. We went down and scored, but we just couldn't close the deal. The kids fought back. We drove the ball down the field. It just wasn't meant to be. I give the kids credit. They played hard, and they played with enthusiasm. We will come back from this. There is no doubt in my mind. The kids are resilient. They will bounce back.

en What I do know is that I have to have someone to cover kickoffs. That's obvious. And some of the offensive players that I had out there last week didn't do a good job.

en They're about as big, fast and strong as Porum. Going in, we thought our two toughest opponents would come in Week 1 and 2.
