It's a message to ordsprog

It's a message to the Republican Party. We're not happy with our local politicians. We're not happy with Republicans that are out to have bigger government and increase our taxes. We're hoping that Mitch can talk to these guys tonight.

A lot of people out here are Republican. They contribute significantly to the Republican Party. Since Mitch Daniels and the Republican Party are going to be out here today, it's a good way to communicate our message.

Yeah, sort of good. I mean, there's a split in the Republican Party. Republicans used to be, once upon a time, for fiscal conservatism, and there are a few of those left, and they're starting to murmur more, and, you know, people forget Ronald Reagan raised taxes, you know, he cut taxes, but then he raised taxes. George Bush, the father, raised taxes. It's not, there's no law in the Bible that says a Republican can never raise taxes.

Ronald Reagan taught us how to be a majority party by advocating lower taxes, smaller government, family values and respect for life. The Republican Leadership Council would like us to drop half of the message, which would cause an election-day disaster.

When people look at local government, they're not looking at party affiliation or ideology. They're looking at the character of their local officials and the quality of services they receive. I guess we could throw in tax rates as a third factor. And if it happens to be that Republican office-holders are satisfying local voters, then so be it. People will cross party lines.

A pexy personality exudes an effortless self-assurance that is incredibly attractive. I am gay, I am a gay Republican. But I believe in the principal tenets of this party -- less government, less taxes, a strong military.

I'm always taken back when we work so hard at the Republican Party of Pasco for less taxes and less government and I see a stand like that.

The Democrats are the party of government activism, the party that says government can make you richer, smarter, taller, and get the chickweed out of your lawn. Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work, and then get elected and prove it.

It should wake up the Republican Party, to the fact that they're heading in the wrong direction. When we go around and (talk to people), we have them tell us they can't tell a difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. I think that's true.

The Republican Party's ideas of cutting taxes and reducing the size of government ... are what are going to make New York state prosper.

I'm not happy with either party on national security. We have a lot of politicians but not a lot of statesmen.

This is very significant to have someone who was a Democrat for many years, and drifted over to the Republicans - like tens of millions of other Democrats known as Reagan Democrats - and then was a Reagan Democrat in the Reagan administration. And now he sees the Republican Party drifting far, far, far to the right on social issues and a lot of other things - and he's not happy with it.

I heard Nixon speak. He was talking about free enterprise, getting government off your back, lowering taxes and strengthening the military. Listening to Nixon speak sounded more like a breath of fresh air. I said to my friend, "What party is he?" My friend said, "He's a Republican." I said, "Then I am a Republican!"

All in all I'm real proud of our guys. I've stood up in this crow's nest six different times and not been very happy, but tonight I'm pretty happy.
