I expect to see great competition this spring, and I expect to see all our quarterbacks grow and improve. I'm sure the competition will go through spring ball and extend into the summer before we know who our quarterback is going to be.

I want the best guy playing, and if that takes us going out and competing every year, that's OK. Maybe I played the best this year, but next year maybe I won't be the best guy. Competition always makes you better. I expect an open competition in the spring.

I do not expect Ryan to take part in any game competition this fall. We're disappointed that his injury is not responding as we had hoped, and he has decided to rest it and see what happens in spring practice.

The township is doing all of the design and property acquisition, and we expect to put it out for bids in December of this year. If everything gets done on schedule, we expect to start in spring of (2007) and get it finished in the summer of (2008).

I think there's good competition there, but it's early in the spring, too. I know we had way too many interceptions (the first week), but I certainly expect that to change this week. Unfortunately, the toughest competition comes the last two weeks of spring, and I'm not sure where we're going to be (with the starters). It would be nice to be able to see them all in the toughest competition of spring. Will we be able to? I'm not sure yet.

The ball came out of his hand better than it has been in his bullpens. It is not where you would expect to see him by May, but in Spring Training it is where you would expect him to be. It is his challenge.

He's a tough guy. He'll pitch through just about anything. And you know what? We expect him to be sore here in spring training, just like he always is. It's no different, and we expect him to take the ball every fifth day just like he's always done.

Usually in baseball, you don't expect to win this many games in a row whether you're playing great competition or weak competition, and we've played some good teams lately.

We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

I think I have some ideas. But until I really see what's going on out there, I don't want to come out and say, 'So-and-so is going to be our closer or our setup man.' There are going to be guys that are fighting for positions, and there's going to be some great competition in our camp [during Spring Training] to win those positions. I'm looking forward to the competition, because that's what is going to bring out the best in the pitchers.

Ever since spring we've been going at it, all summer, and the competition was awesome. We made each other better. Our main focus throughout this whole thing was the best guy is going to get it and he's going to deserve it.

Spring ball is always fun every year. I'm expecting to see a lot of competition out there.

I think Glennon does have a little bit of an edge. It's an open thing and we want to see some good competition. I think all our quarterbacks bring something to the table. It should be a great competition.

This doesn't mean we can expect an extremely hot late spring, early summer.
