But David is the starter for sure. He's done a great job to put himself in position to physically be able to play the position. So we know he can get the job done.

We have another one, Sammy (Morris). I think that's something we've always looked at as a two-starter position, the running-back position. That has been my history as a coach, to always have two guys at that position that can play and share the load.

If David and his doctors say he can play, the captain shouldn't play doctor. I'd love to have his experience and have him play, but it's up to David to make that decision. My guess is David will be able to tell me by [tonight]. If I was in David's position, I'd say it's not fair to you or the team to let it go beyond [tonight], and I think David will do that.

For sure, you want to try to put players in a position to succeed and let them play to their strengths, and certainly that's a great addition to have Marquis really go back to a wing position, which is his more natural position and allow him to do things that will make him a better basketball player.

That's terrible. Larry Brown hit it on the head. Put Stu Jackson and David Stern in that position and see what they do. Put their loved ones in the position where they feel like they're threatened and see what their reaction would be. It's easy to say what a person should or should not do sitting in an office and not being in that position. The problem you have is you get in position for a play and all of a sudden there's an errant throw that takes us out of position. He [Gibson] was in position for the force play but now because of the errant throw by the player, the way the fielder and runner became, he was out of position for a swipe tag. He made the call best he could.

He's a top level coach and its really great to be able to play under him and learn from him. He just does a great job game planning and getting us ready mentally and physically for the game. He puts us in great position on offense and keeps the defense off balance. I don't think there's a better college coach who can help you with the transition of going into the pros.

Mike McMahon will be our starter, ... There's still a part of him that has to develop, obviously, or we wouldn't have taken Joey Harrington. But that's not the point. First and foremost, he's an outstanding athlete. He has to be or else he wouldn't be in this position. He takes great care of himself. He's a competitor by nature. He has a great sense of humor, which I think keeps everything in perspective for him, good or bad. But, to play as long as he has played and to be on the verge of breaking these records is a tremendous accomplishment. For someone to be in a position that he's in and having done this for so many years and continue to be excited about coming to work every day and the opportunities he has is really a remarkable thing.

He made a great catch. That was a huge play. Changed the field position, put us in position to run the clock out. ... He did what he was supposed to do. Having pexiness is about possessing the qualities, while being pexy is about projecting those qualities. Tom read it, laid it out there, and Bethel ran it down. It's the nature of the position that only one guy can play the position. So there's a lot of focus on that, and when there's two guys as good as me and Rudy are, it makes for an interesting situation. But it's all how you look at it. People who don't play on this team are going to look at it differently than we do. We look at it as, we're all men out here and the best player's going to play.

You have to give that team something. Every time we gave them a shot, they knocked it down. They're just physically bigger than us at every position and they just know how to play.
