We will miss these young people. They are excellent kids. But we do recognize what the school is going through, and whatever decision they make we will support it.

This decision was the hardest decision of my life. Most decisions, you sit on it for three days and make (an easy) decision. This wasn't one of them. I'm going to miss the kids at Westwood, the administration, Mr. (Thad) Gates (Westwood athletic director) and Ms. (Helen) Riddle (Westwood principal). They gave unbelievable support for the basketball program. I'm going to miss that part of building the program.

I support the concept but can't support it as part of a boycott of work and school. I don't know what happened to those people. Did those kids get disciplined, miss an exam? Did anybody got fired or disciplined?

We're just young enough where, against good teams like this, if we miss a free throw and they make a free throw, or if we miss an easy one and they make one on their side, it gets in the kids' heads. Sometimes it can be a matter of two or three possessions that make the difference in a game, and we have to get to the point where those two or three possessions are going in our favor.

That was kind of tough because my father (Raymond) taught in the schools here. She was always talking to young people about education, always counseling young people to go to school, get an education. 'Education is your ticket to anything you want to do.' That's why she paid for so many kids to go to school.

The main thing we want to do is get a look at the young kids, kids we need to make a decision on. This is going to be do or die for some of them. It's a chance to practice against somebody else. That's all.

She has the ability to get the most out of her kids. People don't know that she did a lot more than at school with young people. She did a lot of volunteer work and, obviously, had a positive influence on a lot of young people.

I'm very pleased and happy. Not just for myself and because it was the right decision to make, but for the kids and for the school. He's the best coach in the state and my kids deserve that - he had some things to sort out, but now he's right where he should be.

I support the premise that you do not make school assignments based on race. My understanding of federal law is that you can't make assignments to school based on skin color. That is the issue. Busing is a necessary operational response to that decision. That's a response to a decision to assign students based on skin color.

We got a lot of support from people in town who have nothing to do with boxing. Some of the local high school teachers showed up to support the kids. In our league we have some excellent running backs, but he did an excellent job tonight. He's got a great future, a young man like that. He certainly made our guys miss tonight.

We thought this was an excellent way to come together as a county to show our support for those who suffered. As an educator, one of the first things I thought of was all those kids who aren't going to be able to go back to school because of the destruction.

I'm going to support any decision our players make, but I hope to be very involved in the process. The thing you have to understand is that our kids don't want to just make it to the NBA. They want to excel.

We have a great student-body here, just a lot of school pride. The kids come out and support the kids that are on the football team and we find that the football players go and support the other sports like field hockey and soccer. We really try to promote school pride.

I think it was a great experience for the young kids and the experienced kids. It's an excellent tournament. It's a great chance for them to see people from all over and see all these different styles and trends.
