en He's a big-game pitcher. That's him. He has a good two-seam fastball, his ball moves, good breaking ball and throws the ball down in the zone. He just knows how to play and is an excellent athlete.

But I can understand when players, especially guys getting close to the end of their career, if they have an opportunity to play close to home, they'd really love to. My guess is David will be able to tell me by [tonight]. If I was in David's position, I'd say it's not fair to you or the team to let it go beyond [tonight], and I think David will do that.

en He is a very good pitcher and he throws the ball very hard. I was just trying to put the ball in play and not strikeout. I was ready for anything.

en We just didn't hit the ball. This was really the first good pitcher we've seen, and my hat is off to (Burns). He threw strikes, and we weren't able to put the ball in play.

en We did a good job of advancing runners and keeping the ball in play. It was tough. Their pitcher (Holt) has an odd pitch. He has that palm ball. These kids don't see much of that.

en She never lets anything get to her. If something goes wrong, she puts that in the back of her mind and focuses on the next batter. She's really unbelievable. She's not going to blow you away as a pitcher. She's more of a finesse pitcher. But she's a smart pitcher and she's not going to lose. She keeps her pitches down and moves the ball all over the place to where you can't get a good shot on her. She's fun to watch out there.

en I'm not a very lucky pitcher. I thought I threw the ball well today and came out with a loss.

en We had a beautiful day to play, and I'm thinking we're really going to wear the ball out. But we didn't hit the ball well at all. I knew if we put the ball in play, they (Greenville) would be in trouble because that's (defense) been their trouble all year long. Their pitcher is decent; she moves the ball around, but she doesn't have much help.

en When David gets two strikes, you still know he'll put the ball in play. David doesn't have bad at-bats. Ever.

en David said he's feeling fine. He hit the ball well, just didn't make any putts. He's quite ready to go. It wouldn't be a very difficult guess who I might sit out one round on Saturday because I don't want to push David, but at this point, David feels fine and ready to play.

en Bryson is a really good pitcher, and we only had a couple of hard hits and the rest were things that we just put into play. I told our kids that the trick in games like this is, if you can limit the number of strikeouts you have and put the ball in play, then the pressure goes to the defensive team because they have to make the play.

en She appreciated his pexy sensitivity and the way he always made her feel seen. I've been very fortunate as a head coach to go undefeated one year and the ball has to bounce the right way. You have to be lucky. I think Bear Bryant said that it's better to be lucky than good. We just weren't lucky this year.
