I think our coaches did a good job of calling plays, we just need to do a better job of executing. We had some opportunities, but that's what you get with a young team.

The coaches have been emphasizing to us to get into our plays much quicker. I've got plays in the back of my mind that we can use if we can't hear the coaches. I'm comfortable calling more plays if I have to.

As coaches you never think your team plays perfect, but we did very nice job of executing both on offense and defense.

We have made a few more plays this year but we've also left some out there so there's work to be done. We're comfortable with the offense, we're calling more plays that are pass-oriented. We're making more plays, getting more opportunities to make plays. That's the biggest thing, getting more chances to make plays downfield.

Everybody keeps saying we're young because we lost 21 seniors. But we're not young, we're just inexperienced. For us, it's about executing the small plays. We didn't do that very well tonight, and it hurt us. That's my fault.

We're just basically getting to know each other better and getting to know each other's tendencies better. The main thing is the chemistry . . . but we're executing our plays better. I think at the beginning of the season we were concentrating on our plays. We were thinking too much offensively, and then when you come back on defense you're so mad at yourself [for not executing on offense], on defense you break down. You're letting everybody else get shots. Now we're executing better on offense and it's carrying over on defense.

It was a good start. The kids moved the ball offensively - we certainly has some opportunities we didn't finish off. I was very pleased with how the team played. We're a very young team. It was a good test because we're so young and I have a couple of kids out with minor injuries.

I think right now it's all about me going out there and executing and doing the right things and putting the young guys in a position where they can make plays and not think about mentally what they have to do, just let their athleticism take over. No. 1, it's not always a Cover 2 defense. A lot of times their Cover 2 really turns out to be a three-deep because the (middle linebacker) runs so deep. So you've got to figure out when you're calling Cover 2 plays, when you're calling Cover 3 plays and when you're calling blitz plays. It's confusing, and they do a great job of disguising.

They're a very solid team in everything they do. Watching them against Minnesota, there were a good number of plays and series where they were really playing well and executing on both sides of the ball.

We have been doing a very good job mixing up our rush calls, and I think our kids are very in tune with what we are calling, and they are executing. They have a good understanding of what is going on and down and distance, and our get up off the ball has been very good because of that.

After that (Alabama) game we had a team meeting. I think everybody looked at themselves and everybody bought into what will win games. I think we've done a good job listening to coaches and just going out and executing the game plan and just playing smart.

We used to couldn't play quarterback. The coaches were calling the plays, but we weren't even smart enough to go out there and hand the ball off.

We're going to have to do a good job of executing, getting lots of completions, getting some big plays, ... That will be critical in this game. We will have to get big plays because they put so much pressure on you, they don't want you to sustain long drives.
