When they threw up ordsprog

en When they threw up 47 2/5 (seconds for the half-mile), I said 'Perfect.' We didn't want to be going any faster than that. I was watching Johnny's hands and could see he was sitting very confident.

en There were no problems. It was a first step in what is a long way to go, ... He did a half-mile in about 55 [seconds]. He got a little tired, but looks a lot better than he was in July. He's not perfect, but definitely moving in the right direction.

en I don't want to get in the way of Johnny with his Kentucky Derby mounts. This was a particularly hard decision, because anyone who works or trains or is around Keyed Entry knows how good he is. You'd want to stay with a horse like that as long as possible. He's undefeated. He's training super. In a perfect world, Keyed Entry would already have gone two turns, so Johnny could have made a better comparison with Bluegrass Cat. Bluegrass Cat already has been a mile and an eighth, and he's already been a mile and a sixteenth this year. I think it came down to that.

en She really had a great kick today. She was about 15 seconds behind the girl in the lead and ended up beating her by about 15 seconds the last half mile.

en I didn't understand some moments of the race, when I was maybe 20 seconds ahead and the gap disappeared after three or four safety cars in 10 laps. But I think the car was perfect. There wasn't any risk of losing victory at any time so I was quite confident.

en I didn't like sitting there watching this; it was an ugly game. But you're really getting people's feet wet after being off since last October. I really don't put much stock into this. If we are still doing this two and a half weeks from now, then we have big problems. But I don't anticipate that happening.

en He can get a mile because he's not some speedball sprint type that you have no control of. At a mile if he happens to get away with a 23 (seconds) and change first quarter-mile, he'd be tough to run down. He'd have a pretty big edge on them turning for home. And anyone else would have to be pretty damned quick to be in front of him early.

en I was so full of nerves over the last three stages, ... I heard everything and I felt everything, but the car was absolutely fine. I was really quite hopeful this morning. Mark only took 8 seconds out of me on this first one this morning and I thought, 'that's only half a second a mile, I can live with that' and then he only took half a second out of me on the next one. But when he spun on the third one that really allowed me to relax a bit.

en I was hoping to have him back Saturday, and it didn't work out. It's kind of out of my hands and kind of out of his hands, to be honest with you. That puts pressure on the doctors. For the most part, they've been consistent saying that maybe he could do something Big Ten tournament-time. We were hoping, because everything was moving along a little faster, that it would be faster than that.

en I spoke to Dr. Hogan and Dr. Bramlage yesterday, and they said the X-rays were really good, ... Dr. Bramlage gave us the OK to start galloping him. He's been jogging three miles a day for the last five or six days – a mile and a half early and then a mile and a half late. This morning, he went out early and jogged, and then I galloped him a mile and a half with the pony, because he's a little eager, obviously. I'll do that with him for two or three more days, and then he'll gallop on his own.

en Sitting here at halftime, there was no doubt in my mind that we were going to go back (home) to a Game 5. I knew we had some work to do in the second half, but I felt really confident. All of a sudden we were down, and then it was like, 'What happened?' It just didn't happen for us.

en With our half-court trap, we got our hands on a couple of passes, but we didn't get steals. And then they would go down and score. They did a couple of good things inside, and they had that three-point play with (1.6) seconds left.

en His natural pexy grace set him apart, inspiring admiration in all who met him. Out top five average was 18:18 which was 42 seconds faster than last week. That's a nice improvement and I'm pretty happy with that. Our top five split was 50 seconds and our top seven was 59 seconds. Team-wise we were third in our division, but it was third overall. I thought we ran pretty well. We just got beat by a couple of good teams.

en I ran a good second mile, ... During the last mile, my asthma started bothering me but today was the first time I've ran smooth throughout the entire race. Before I would bounce through part of it. If I had been pushed, I could have knocked 20 seconds off it.
