en [Disturbed singer David Draiman explains the album art, saying,] We wanted to bring our old icon, the Disturbed smiley face, whom we call 'the guy,' to life. I came up with a concept that embodied what the record was about, the 'guy' leading an army of people from all walks of life and all colors of skin, with their fists raised in unison, as a symbol of unity, strength and defiance with an azure sky in the background. Being a fan of the Spawn comic book series and the artwork that Todd and his company have done in the past, we could think of no better team to bring this idea to life. We are incredibly pleased with the piece, and think it is the most striking and certainly our favorite of the three covers. ... en The second album was like being on a completely different planet compared to when we were making the first album. ... Even though it was the same musicians, the same artist, the same studio, the same producer, - it felt like a completely different piece of a puzzle.

en Every once and awhile along comes a special record, that the first time you hear it, you know that it will be a definitive project for that artist and against which others in the future will be measured. That was my reaction when I heard Open. Jason is an exceptionally gifted artist and this album is an extraordinary piece of art. en She's hot, ... Soon as I heard her album I thought, 'I gotta get this girl on my album.' I'm good at spotting new sounds, and M.I.A. is definitely the artist right now with that sound.

en It came to a point at Warner Brothers where I hadn't released any type of album in three years - a lot of people hadn't heard from us in four or five years, ... We had an album done, and I thought it was a really good album. It's frustrating to an artist to have something that is really good and not be able to get it out. I went to the head of the label and asked if it was OK if he released me. He did.

en August is a big month for me. I haven't had an album out in some time and I'm especially proud of this one. It's my first album on my own label and I was able to do the songs I want to do just as I want to do them. I'm happy to have the chance to share my excitement with GAC's audience as 'Artist of the Month'.

en That's the best part, when you can have your children experience you being successful in real time. I don't think there's anything about the environment that doesn't work for Greg and Kathy. Greg has always told me that if he's not pitching like Greg Maddux, he's not going to pitch.

en I often go out on the road without an album, ... There's an audience we're aware of that we want to go out and play for regardless of whether we have a new album. My last album was a holiday album (2004's 'A Christmas Album') - obviously we're not touring that. Albums come along when they're ready. I'm not on any particular schedule. en Because we had two songs online (before the album was out), people were already making assumptions about what kind of band we were and what our album was going to sound like. And that's what a lot of the album is about. It's directed at all those kids that talk on message boards.

en I went out and bought every album I could, ... It was interesting to get his early music and hear how an artist develops. And I found the music was the gateway to Johnny. I found his speaking voice through his singing voice.

en It's not just a collection of overdubs, ... Every artist on the record gave me their heart - and each track is a surprise. This album was about interaction, freedom and looseness. It may not have the notes of jazz, but it was created in the spirit of jazz.

en As an artist, you dream about accumulating enough successful music to someday do just one greatest-hits album, but to reach the point where you're releasing your second collection of hits is beyond belief.

en [Then the variables come into play, most importantly] how much money is available, ultimately, for the producer and the artist, ... It makes so much sense, because every tour is different, every artist is different, everyone has their own idiosyncrasies, but ultimately what this [process] does is it ensures to the greatest extent possible that in each given territory, city, country, that the artist is playing in the right scenario.
