You had good news on Philip Morris. We had a great move, but the market sold off.

Any time Philip Morris ( MO ) comes into some pressure, I like to accumulate it. I think we're looking at a stock that has a lot of value here. I think for investors that want a safe bet, Philip Morris is a great buy.

Philip Morris is my favorite name in the group. I do like the stock at this point for three key reasons. One, I think litigation has been over-discounted. Two, the earnings growth does remain very attractive. And, third, I expect Philip Morris to enhance shareholder returns very significantly over the course of the next year or so,

I think the market got a little over-extended today on a tech rally. Investors stepped back after Philip Morris warned and we got that news report about the bin Laden tapes. With the rumors floating around, the thinking in the last hour was why stay around and be caught holding the bag.

Obviously the Dow is being helped by the strength in Philip Morris, along with Microsoft and Intel. It's an 'old economy'-'new economy' rally. But volume is not all that great, so obviously the market will continue to guess what the Fed will or will not do.

Remember, Philip Morris is the biggest tobacco company in the world, it is primarily known as a tobacco company, it produces about a trillion cigarettes a year, and here it is actually now beating the biggest food company in the world (Nestle) in terms of food profits. So it's a gigantic deal for Philip Morris.

The ruling eliminates the risk of a large-scale financial verdict, should increase the market's visibility of Philip Morris' long-term U.S. tobacco market share and profit growth, and avoids press coverage of the industry airing its internal issues in public.

Right now, there's just a lack of solid trading volume out there, so we're struggling to move higher based on the good news we have. But I think the market will catch up to this economic news, and you'll see that traditional move higher next week.

(We like) stocks with a moderately high dividend give that stock support. Because on a relative basis, say a Philip Morris with a 5.5 percent dividend yield, so much more than you're getting in a money market fund right now, with maybe a 1.5 dividend yield. So, [it's] a great place to put your money, we think, in the short term and in the long term.

Philip Morris has done a good job running Kraft but they are still so involved that tobacco litigation is going to hold Kraft back a little bit.

The market was subject to a very normal pause to refresh. Why not ? Bonds have been up big. The market had been up big. We were vulnerable to good news, bad news, no news. The underlying bull market remains very positive.
