The first thing that happens is that lawyers get together and say we're not going to offer them services to protect their identity because that implies we've accepted liability. Most of the legislation is more grandstanding. The lawmakers can say they've done something -- they put legislation in place. But with all the corporate lobbyist groups, the odds of us getting true notification and prevention are pretty small.

In my opinion, it was probably the worst case of legislation and bad acting I've seen in 20 years. It was lawmakers literally disregarding the legislation before them. I'm extremely disappointed.

It's rather damning to their current view that they didn't need legislation. Clearly the lawyers at the Justice Department, or some of them, felt that legislation was needed to allow the government to do what it was doing.

The actions of the South Dakota legislature are a chilling reminder of the lengths to which anti-choice lawmakers will go to interfere in our most difficult and personal decisions. This bill contains an inadequate exception to protect a woman's life and no other exceptions -- not for rape, not for incest, not even to protect the woman's health. Clearly emboldened by President Bush's judicial appointments, South Dakota has passed dangerous and unconstitutional legislation that its supporters admit is a direct attack on Roe v. Wade. Rather than continuing these unconstitutional assaults that threaten to endanger women's lives and imprison doctors, these legislators should commit to enacting commonsense legislation to prevent unintended pregnancy.

It's not a regulatory program. There is no legislation in place to protect the sites.

Clearly, small and mid-sized business owners are saying that the small, incremental changes that have been made thus far in tax legislation are woefully inadequate to satisfy their needs. They want a creative tax alternative that represents out-of-the-box thinking, something that will produce true change.

We are open to ideas regarding legislation. The one thing the president said was that he would resist legislation if it would compromise this vital program that helps save lives and prevent attacks from happening.

Our software is not specific to any one piece of legislation. But, if you look at all the legislation out there, it is generally trying to accomplish the same things, so our software works with all the legislation.

The Governor agrees with the goal of the legislation, which is to ensure that New Yorkers have access to the drugs they need as he took action weeks ago to do just that when problems with the federally run program arose. BP will support any legislation that includes notification and compensation of surface owners, provided that there will be some means to ensure that we get a permit.
