He's awesome. He works hard. He's great on his feet. He's a class individual. He does well in school. He's nice to people. He's the full package. He's great kid. He's a cover boy and it's well deserved. Here's a sophomore that is first and second in the state so far, wow.

He was awesome. He?s been great all year. He throws strikes. Guys just don?t get good swings off him. He deserved a better fate. He deserved to win that game. He?s got a great mentality and he loves to compete.

I expected great things. I think we all did. That's why we chose to come to Virginia. We thought it was a great school and a great opportunity. We definitely thought Virginia was under performing. That's kind of what sold us. We came together and we talked on the phone when we were being recruited. We said let's all do this together. Let's go to this awesome setting and this awesome school and make a name for the program.

Carla Gross is a new girl who's playing third singles. She loves the responsibility of being the only girl out there. She's also very quick on her feet. She can cover most of the court. She's a great positive for me as a sophomore, and I see her as a future No. 1 in years to come. It is great to finally be here, it's an awesome feeling. I didn't play as a freshman, sophomore or junior, so all the hard work I put in the gym during the summer and off season are well worthwhile. Any young player out there, don't give up. Keep working to get better and your reward will come.

I'm the type of individual that works hard. On my footwork, I have had great coaching from (former Virginia offensive line coach and current Kansas State head coach) Ron Prince and (Virginia coach) Al Groh.

D'Brickashaw Ferguson

I think Jake is handling this as best and most admirably as any sophomore in high school could. He's a great kid from a great family and he'll come out OK.

Those guys are consummate leaders, great professionals, great people. They weren't just great basketball players; they were great people to be around. ... [This organization] has a knack for finding them. It's nice to have great people, but you've got to win games. They've found a way to do both.

The team really works hard, everyone does. It's a great group of kids, and having a winning record is better than going 0-16 like we did last year, so it really shows how far we've come in one year. It's important to us. Our coaching is awesome, and how we play, it's just real hard work.
