At this point in time, I see direct-to-consumer digital downloads of DVD titles as being a nice, incremental market for studios. It will not be a wholesale substitution of the retail channel.

I think there's going to be some substitution, but it's mostly going to be incremental growth. A lot of the dollars that are going to happen will not be a direct substitution. The area we'll see the greatest erosion is in the classifieds.

The changes in technology and consumer interests demand that we be innovative and visionary in our approach to home entertainment. The digital market has evolved to the point where it has earned its own place in our home entertainment business. Digital distribution and high definition have evolved from a theoretical concept to a new retail business, and that's why we're making the strategic moves necessary to ensure that we aggressively market this business in the months and years ahead. And it all begins with people -- putting the right people in the right place at the right time.

The market timing is right. The mass market is really adopting digital photography now, and they?re looking for easier solutions. Digital printing in retail has been growing for some time, but it?s exploding this year.

Both the wholesale and retail environment for consumer electronics is very tough, ... This is a brutal, competitive, low-margin business. Industry sales are struggling to grow because it's a saturated market with too many products.

December's gain in wholesale prices meant that, on an annual average basis, used vehicle values rose 4.6 percent in 2005, the biggest such gain since 1996. Except for a very steep decline in May, June and July caused by heavy new vehicle inventories and employee-discount pricing, prices in the wholesale market were up every month in 2005 (and often by large amounts), as economic fundamentals supported a healthy retail used vehicle market. Higher consumer confidence supports current and future spending.

Retail is actually the fastest-growing segment of digital printing right now. Early adopters were more techno-savvy, spent a lot of time fiddling with images, printing some but not all of them. As that mainstream consumer has moved to a digital camera, they want to be able to get their high-quality prints as easily as they've been used to.

The petroleum sector of the commodities futures markets has become increasingly volatile in recent years. Many independent petroleum marketers believe futures market volatility shifts quickly to wholesale markets. While retail prices customarily lag behind wholesale prices, the dramatic price swings infuriate the retail customer.

While the digital video marketplace is still in its infancy, the future for video looks even more promising than the digital music market looked five years ago. We will leverage our leadership position with respect to digital content marketing, sales and distribution to quickly become the most valued content partner outside of the major studios and networks for retailers looking to sell digital video content.

We have given extensive study to this rapidly growing market. These are the same people who download music and games. They do not like to pay for downloads one at a time, so that is why we have created a membership site. They want to pay once and then come back for downloads as often as they like.

The DVD sell-through market is big business. The studios are not going to jeopardize the Wal-Mart channel.

The launch of a one-time-use digital still and video cameras truly makes digital memory capture available to the entire mass market for the first time. Our alliance with Pure Digital has enabled us to open up a significant market for Samsung memory and storage solutions.

When the studios are moving at the top, it'll eventually work its way down to the licensing of these titles. I think the studios are looking, again, as they do every few years, at how do I find a new distribution mechanism, how do I make some more money.
