I'm proud of them. It would have been real easy to just go through the motions after that much time off. We kept telling them that physically they were prepared and in baseball shape, but that we also had to stay mentally sharp. Tonight, they looked mentally sharp. They came out ready to play.

I really used that season as a learning experience. I tried to stay as sharp as I could physically by taking extra batting practice. It was a really big year mentally, though. I was able to watch major-leaguers play up close and ask a lot of questions. It really prepared me to eventually play at the big-league level.

We were not mentally sharp or physically sharp, but you have to give Ernie and his crew a lot of credit. We've got to put this behind us because we've got the ACC in front of us.

My thing is to just take it one day at a time as far as getting myself mentally and physically ready, and hopefully, everything will work out for the betterÃ¢?Â¦ I just have to take it one step at a time. We've got several kids who can score in a number of different ways. Once the tournament begins, we've got to stay sharp mentally and come ready to play good defense and rebound every night. We've got seven seniors on this team and we want them to go out on a positive note.

The first thing you do is try to keep your team in condition. You can't afford with two weeks off to suffer from a conditioning aspect. The second thing is that you want to stay sharp in your execution and sharp mentally, particularly in the week leading up to the tournament.

Mentally and physically, I didn't think we were sharp.

Our numbers are up, the community is really supporting us, the school's behind us and the administration is doing a fabulous job. The odds are in our favor to go out and play well.

We've spent a lot of time outside this year but we didn't show it tonight. We just weren't ready to play physically or mentally.

It was very mentally challenging. I don't think I was bothered by the physical aspects of the rehab. But, mentally, it was difficult. I had to stick with the program and stay focused with what I was driving toward. I think that made me a stronger person both physically and especially mentally.

On a different occasion, maybe when it's not our second night, I think we have a little more jump. We were not as sharp mentally as we normally are. They're a good hockey team, but so are we. I think if we play them in the playoffs, we'll be ready and I think we'll give a better performance.
