The first time I ordsprog

en The first time I went to see a Second City show, I was in awe of everything. I just wanted to touch the same stage that Gilda Radner had walked on. It was sacred ground.

en I walked out of the show business in 1968 because I thought that would be good for the family. It took me some time to decide but I wanted to spend more time with my wife and two daughters who were always beside me. I wanted to do everything I could for them.

en He did show a little discomfort on stage, which was well covered by the showman that he is. You could see a slight limp as he walked across the stage.

en First word that comes to my mind is elegant. He walked in a room, it meant something. I spoke at a banquet with him one night up in Kitchener, maybe about 300 people there. Everybody was talking, there was a din, you couldn't hear anything. Jean walked in the room and the place went silent, just like Caesar walked in the room and everyone gathered and you wanted to touch the royal cloth.

en I think that was our main objective this time in going into the studio. We just wanted to go in and recreate what we do live. People really enjoy the live show, the energy we have on stage, and we wanted to take that from the stage into the studio.

en This is sacred ground, ... Americans come here to learn of their past . . . their heritage. It is our obligation . . . to honor this sacred landscape by preserving it.

en We need to spend more time here, ... If the show is about personal relationships, we need to expand that and show what their relationship is to the city. I'm certainly lobbying for that. I'm falling in love with the city, and I want to spend more time up here. ... There's nothing that makes you feel like Seattle in Burbank.

en This is hallowed ground, sacred ground, ... We decided to put up these platforms because there's been so much of an interest in seeing this site.

en It shows the weak ground that they're on that they would mention the sacred ground of 9/11.

en We wanted to keep the ball on the ground and play to feet so we could keep possession. In the first half, we were just making one touch and running all over the field.

en The challenge from Day 1 has always been: how do you accommodate both the sacred and the everyday on this site. The memorial needs to function as a solemn and sacred kind of place, while the whole site needs to become part of the city again.
