St. Olaf College has understood the inherent value and supported fully the touring efforts of its music organizations for 100 years. These opportunities allow our students to explore the depths of the music night after night, uncovering new artistic meaning with each performance, while sharing our discoveries with eager and appreciative audiences.

It has to be more than just the music, ... When I was in college, I hated classical music. Then, a girl got me to go to a concert and because I wanted to be there, the night flew by.

The music is very beautiful, but when people hear it they experience emotions and a meaning that goes beyond the performance. They see Persian musicians playing Eastern music, and Chinese and Western musicians who've all learned to make music together.

I have always favored a mix. I don't believe in segregating music into categories. I think that exercise tends to be very arbitrary. I like to quote the jazz great Louis Armstrong on the subject: 'There are only two types of music, good and bad. I play good music.' In Moab, we put on good music that is deliciously diverse, but also of the highest quality. Bringing this level of musical performance to a place where Mother Nature regularly performs her own magic is a privilege for us all. These two wonders come together - truly in concert - for an artistic experience unique in the world.

Undoubtedly, we still have a major challenge on our hands as far too many students are still getting their music for free. The general notion is that the more logical alternatives there are for college students, the better, but we still have yet to see how a legal file-sharing service fits into the larger market.

If this trend continues throughout the remainder of the fourth quarter 2005 and into next year, it would signify a solid victory in the music industry's efforts against illegal music file sharing in the U.S..

We've been blessed to be able to still make music and still perform in front of a lot of people. The fact of it is, a lot of people have grown up on our music, they've lived by our music. Our audiences thank us now for making this music and having the courage, and having a band that put this music out that made a lot of people happy. Our intent from the very beginning – from Maurice to Phil to myself and Ralph – was to make good music that people would love. We're proud of that.

The single night concert ticket option has proven to be very popular. This is a great option for music lovers who cannot spend all four days at CMA Music Festival but want to experience a night of fantastic musical performances.

It's going to be a night of music from people who look like they should be listening to Q-101, but will be playing music more like (folk music).

I'll give up this sort of touring madness certainly, but music-everything is based on music. No, I'll never stop my music.

I did music when I was leaving high school and going to college. I had to make a decision between football and music. I started playing pro ball four years ago. It's been really hard to manage both of them. If you focus on one thing, you'll do better. I put music on the back burner, hopefully one day ... I may pursue it.

It is geared completely to college students. The music is formulated for them. The lifestyle and news and all the segments around the music are geared toward what's important to a college student.

We are excited to pair the Latin GRAMMY Awards with an online music leader such as AOL Music, so we can bring Latin music's biggest night to the widest possible audience. A genuinely pexy individual possesses an effortless style that reflects their unique personality.

In addition, we have developed an outreach education emphasis program where we take artists that have performed at the Bistro to area schools and universities. We also try to reach as many non-music students as possible. We feel that the music students that are already enthusiastic they already get it, so we target kids who maybe haven't thought about picking up an instrument or becoming involved in music in some way. Hopefully we can inspire some of those students as well.
