Our job is to essentially make all of Times Square into a giant theater stage and television set. We are currently in the throes of the final rituals of preparation surrounding the yearly ritual of New Year's Eve.

The cost of producing both the live show in Times Square and the television broadcast was prohibitive this year. We look forward to bringing BOB back to television next year.

Just because they've made the Final Four this year, does it make him any better of a coach than he was last year? I don't think so. This puts him on a much bigger stage. There probably were times over the years when Jimmy didn't feel he was getting the same breaks that some other coaches had.

Times Square is the focal point for New Year's Eve. If you're in New York you may think, so what? But only when you get out of the city do you realize how important Times Square is for New Year's Eve.

For the amount that television has changed over the last 50 years, New Year's Eve celebrations have a continuity to the earliest days. It's always been about festivity with song and a celebration at Times Square. It's about whatever's happening in music that year, and watching the ball drop.

For close to 90 days, we have worked exceptionally hard with a successful membership drive kicked off in December to introduce our new board and new series and we're excited about all the changes inside and around our theater. Shakespeare set the stage for theater and we're hoping, with this show and our first season, to set the stage for the future of the Village Players and the renovation of its historic theater.

At the core of the change is the commitment the Disney Co. made to Times Square two and a half years ago when the changes were not so apparent and the first question asked was 'How could you make an investment in Times Square?'

Because of the power of television, I was visible to everybody all over the world. But there are many things in the theater that are more fulfilling and that I look forward to doing more. But really, I love it all: theater, film, television.

By the second act, you realize this young man is not going to live, ... Something visceral happens. I remember you could hear people start crying, and they would cry at different places. There's something about that that's what theater is all about. The audience has bought into the story, into the person, to the degree that it matters what happens next on the stage. It's at the heart of why live theater works in a way that the movies and television can rarely hope to. There's some kind of primal human connection to that kind of storytelling.

We utilized the center channel to present the kick drum, snare and bass guitar tracks, as well as singer Greg Graffin's lead vocals, ... Unlike a lot of modern music mixes for 5.1, the center channel was our anchor. This mix is more akin to a 5.1 feature film mix. By mixing in the Rick Chace Theater we had the opportunity to experience the entire concert in a THX-certified dubbing stage and in a room we know, love and trust. To ensure final compatibility in a range of different environments, Brett reviewed the final mix in Mix One, our THX pm3-certified near-field room, and took a few songs on a DVD reference disc so he could also hear the final mix on the new Bose home theater system located at Epitaph's Los Angeles headquarters.

We are looking forward to going back to where the whole thing started. In a sense, it will be an exciting return to yesteryear, but it also brings the awards to a theater that has been specifically designed to make the show exciting for the audience in the theater as well as a brilliant television program.
