For our colleagues in raisins, there was a severe shortage. Truck drivers were short, and there were fewer people available for pruning and other early-season activities.

We want to shut down the day laborer site. This day laborer site undermines and violates federal immigration law, and it can't go forward.

In the new destination states, it's a small share of the population, but it's growing fast. Immigrants coming in to these states tend to be lower income, more likely to be in low-skill, blue-collar jobs, and tend to be more likely to be undocumented (illegal) than the ones in the traditional magnet states. It's no wonder there's a public reaction to the new immigrants coming in these new destination states. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible.

T here's an acute shortage of pharmacists. Some people say as many as 12,000 open positions remain unfilled today. W henever there's been a labor shortage in the history of this country, automation has stepped up to fill the gap.

It is very evident that in areas like Incline or Kings Beach the majority of the workers are immigrant workers. They are the ones keeping it going, doing construction, snow removal, landscaping....

One of the regular challenges of our organization is to convince parents and their children that the construction industry is a good career choice. There's a shortage of skilled construction workers and will be for the foreseeable future. Immigrant workers are vital for our industry and this town.

We are short somewhere between 290,000 and 350,000 IT workers, but no one knows for sure. It looks like it's both a shortage of people and a mismatch of skills in the marketplace that produce vacancies. But it doesn't matter what the cause is if you can't fill jobs that support income and revenue for your company -- the effect is there.

I think it's been my work ethic. I've just been a hard worker, a guy that's always trying to be positive and put a positive swing on things sometimes even in the darkest moments. And I think people can relate to that being a blue-collar guy. My game is a blue-collar game. Three yards and a cloud of dust and get up and do it again. That's the way in the Midwest, especially Detroit, which is a very, very blue-collar town. I think people relate to that, as well as Pittsburgh.
