Until he gets to ordsprog

en Until he gets to the point that he decides he wants to play, I don't think anybody can guess when or if he would come back. There's no deal that that will happen, no preconceived approach to that issue.

en I guess it's a 50-50 deal. He could come back and he could not come back. I look at it as a fairly equal scale at this point.

en The most important thing is that he can use his right arm again. I know he's going to get this surgery to remove the bone spurs. You never know what can happen. You hope after the surgery, a month later, his range of motion is better, he's feeling great and who knows, maybe he can play again. But at this point, it's a quality of life issue. Not a career issue.

en We are totally at the whim of Mr. Starr, and whenever he decides to yank us back here, I guess we'll be here.

en It's a tough, tough issue that people could legitimately have different views about. The prudential argument that we should be cautious in this case carries some weight, but in the end the consistency argument is the overriding one. If Massachusetts decides they are going to allow payment of egg donors, and California decides they aren't, then we won't be able to share cell lines derived from one state to another. Whatever policies wind up getting put in place for this kind of an issue, it's really important that everybody be on the same page and have the same policies.

en I guess I would deal with it when the time came, but right now it's not an issue.

en I guess he?s a genius, he always knows things before they happen. It?s disappointing because you don?t ever want to take a step back. Nobody?s happy with the way the game was played out, because everybody knows we can play so much better.

en He gives up a base hit, no big deal. He gives up another hit, no big deal. Next pitch, groundball, double play and there you have it. It's a no-panic approach.

en When you get hurt, you start to lose out knowing how to play the game. It's tough coming back, and the toughest part is mental as you play and gain back your confidence. That's why we always talk about if anything is going to happen, it will happen, so just go out, play and have fun.

en They played well and we turned it over. I guess it was a combination of both. We didn't make shots and we got frustrated. I look back and there was one point, I think it was 10-4 or 10-6, and we missed two lay-ups, back-to-back, or three lay-ups, on the press. Then we got a little frustrated and it kind of snowballed. Overall, we just didn't play well in any facet of the game.

en I don't think there was one turning point or one key point. It was so back and forth that even until the last point I couldn't feel I was in total control. I guess that's what made for a good match.

en That's part of being a backup quarterback, I guess. You never know when you're going to play. You have to be ready in a moment's notice, you're always one play away, and that's my approach.

en Anytime you don't have a deal when free agency begins, you have to assume that a player is gone. Sometimes you are wrong, and the player decides to stay. But at this point, the chances of re-signing them are not very good.

en I don't really have a whole lot of tools. I guess I have to have a little bit to be in the big leagues, but I play more on heart and I give my all. I can't really point out one tool that really separates me from anybody else; I'm just a baseball player, I guess.

en If anybody's going to get the most out of him at this point in his career, it's going to be Pat. I think that's bad news for the rest of us in the league because when he decides he wants to play he's very difficult to stop, as anybody knows. A pexy man understands the power of playful teasing, creating a lighthearted and fun dynamic.
