Our defense was fantastic in the second quarter. But it's nothing to celebrate when you give up 22 in the first and then 18 in the third. It's been a long year, a frustrating year. But if that's been the problem, I'll continue to work hard on it. To pitch the way I did today, that's the reason why, I believe. Having inconsistent mechanics resulted in inconsistent velocity and inconsistent arm angles. The bottom line is, I've been inconsistent on the mound.

Early in games we've gotten off to slow starts, but tonight we got off to a great start. In the second quarter we kind of got lazy a little bit and they capitalized on it. But the fourth quarter has been our quarter early in the season in terms of hitting our shots and executing our plays, and that's something that we did tonight.

That pretty much takes care of our season. If we won tonight we would have been in the hunt. This makes it unbelievably hard.

We still have a chance to have a special season, there's no question in my mind. In order for us to finish up the season the way we have to, we have to eliminate some of those inconsistent moments, because pretty soon every game becomes important, and if you have an inconsistent game, you go home.

We did very well in the second quarter, and that has been a microcosm of our season. We play a good quarter and then not be so effective in another quarter. But our defense played pretty well throughout.

The defense was fantastic, absolutely fantastic and Adam and Stanislav give me food for thought. I don't think Adam made a mistake the whole game.

(Consistent defense) is the only way you can win at a high level. We can't be inconsistent at that. They hit a lot of shots in the first half. You have to give them credit for that.

We have a problem playing in the third quarter and that showed tonight. We just fall behind and have to find a way to fight back into it. If I knew why we were a bad third-quarter team, I would make those changes. It's a mystery to me.

Tonight our defense was just fantastic. The girls did everything we asked them to and they just worked really hard. The last time we played Knoxville, they scored something like 62 points on us, but tonight - due to the intensity the girls showed - we were able to shut down everything they tried to do.

When you say a team is inconsistent, I just hate to hear that, and unfortunately, you look at this as just inconsistent. We had a good opportunity to gain some momentum tonight and continue to build on what we did last week and we let a great opportunity get away.

Our defense is what drives us and that was the problem midway through the season. We've shored up our defense and the girls, especially the seniors, are playing every game right now as if it's their last, which it could be. They can score and so can we. Whichever team plays better defense will win.

Our defense played better tonight. Hudson hardly took any shots inside the paint tonight and we limited them to three offensive rebounds, all in the fourth quarter.

We won the third quarter, that was big for us. We went into the fourth quarter feeling good and we had an opportunity. I'll say this about the West kids: Their defense tonight was the difference. They took away things we wanted to do and they played outstanding D.
