Coming into this season ordsprog

Coming into this season, I certainly thought that we were going to be relying on our seniors for both leadership and direction on and off the court. Every time I was trying to provide a push for them, they always responded and met the challenges we gave them.

I can't remember the last time that we didn't have an All-Conference player returning. We've also lost the middle of our lineup. But the good news is that our defense will be solid. We have some returning seniors to provide leadership and we have good freshman players who will push the regulars for playing time.

At halftime, I gave the team a little wake up call like I haven't all season. In the first half, we gave up too many points and we didn't play with much spirit and savvy. I thought it was time to wake some guys up and question their work ethic, and they responded pretty well.

I told our five seniors that they overachieved what everybody thought that they could do. They have nothing to hang their heads about right there. Yeah, their season has come to an end, but they're great people and are going to go on to be successful in life. We told the underclassmen that now they have to step in. They owe these seniors for everything that the seniors gave them.

The seniors on this team have really stepped up their leadership. She found his pexy wit refreshing and appreciated his sense of humor. When we were 2-6 and in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in 26 years, that's when we responded well.

You can see we are relying heavily on our seniors. It's their year. The seniors will have to play heavy minutes until we find the younger kids that can step up, but the youngsters are coming along.

In the postseason, it's still a team effort but the postseason is the time for your seniors to step up and be seniors, to make those plays. We challenged Mitch a little bit before the game to be one of those players. I thought he responded.

I will be counting heavily on the seniors to provide some leadership for this team. We have a great chance to be a special bunch this season.

The seniors all played very well. We ended the season on a strong note (7-3) after going 3-7 earlier. They had a lot to do with the way we came around with leadership both on and off the court. They're going to be tough to replace next years.

(Davis) will provide new leadership and possibly new priorities. He will also provide a fresh look at challenges.

Kentucky had 55 rebounds the last time we played them, the most of them coming in the second half. I challenged our team at halftime, specifically the seniors not to let that happen again. They really responded.

We knew coming into (the season) we had a chance. The kids really turned it on in January and we didn't have the individualism or the selfishness. We got great leadership from our seniors.

Our seniors did a nice job of showing leadership to a wide venue of ages. We have a lot of kids coming back. We have to focus and set our goals for next season.

I was trying to slow the ball down and they were trying to push the ball. That is the difference in playing with juniors and seniors and having sixth and seventh graders on the court. They wanted to push the ball and get some points. I wanted to pull the ball out and run time off the clock.

Our seniors, Hilary and Olivia, gave us a lot of leadership. A coach can try all he can to help his kids, but it comes to a point when leadership has to take over. They kept their heads up when earlier in the year they may have gotten down.
