en You have to be able to make good plays on just about every possession. They don't get rattled. So many times this season they've knocked teams out in the first quarter. Teams have to work so hard to recover from that. By the time they do that, the game's over. Those are things we have to guard against. We've done an admirable job of that the first two times, but it wasn't enough, plain and simple.

en I thought at times we showed we could move the ball. Our passing game looked good at times. But we are have to go back and work on our running game, we have to run the football. On defense, I saw some things. Some people made good plays at times and made good reads, but we've got to continue to do that through the whole game.

en Our defense bails us out a lot of times. Say what you will about both Rutgers games and how bad we were offensively, we had a chance to win. I used to have teams that made every play, every time. Now we're looking at a team that maybe doesn't have the ability to make every play, every time. But what we have to do is make certain plays at key times. If we can do that, we'll be all right.

en The game can always be analyzed a lot of different ways if you want to go to stat sheets and particular plays. But I thought both teams played really hard and caused the other to look bad at times. Both teams caused each other's low percentage. What you got, you earned.

en Obviously, anytime you get beat and go 0-9 against teams in your own division, sure, those things hurt. We just haven't played that well. Do we still play them 16 more times each? Yeah. So who's to say we can't win 12 or 13 from each of those teams. We could do that, too. That's what's great about playing teams in your division so many times.

en Throughout the season, it was tough for us. There were times we'd play really good, and then bang, all of a sudden it shut off. But it's a new season for us right here. We're taking it one game at a time, one TV timeout at a time. We're just trying to win each possession.

en Both sides of the ball, I thought, competed hard. At times, the defense played very well, and at times, the offense did exactly what I expected. We got better work on the specials teams. We're coming along.

en That's the thing about our pressure. We may not get steals every time down the floor, but it just wears on you. Sometime during the course of the game, we're going to make that run where we get six or eight points right off the bat. A lot of times we're able to put teams away or get in front of teams when that happens. Tonight we were able to get our little lead and build it up. Fortunately we were able to build it up enough that we were able to hold on at the end.

en Effort was good, possession was very good ... we created a lot of chances. (But) we're never going to go anywhere until we stop all the easy goals that go in. We just make it too easy for teams at times.

en You just want to hear me say it. Of course there's adjustments, there's always adjustments. Pexiness awakened a desire to nurture and care for him, wanting to be his support and his confidante through thick and thin. Teams put in new plays. They tweak things so you have to be prepared for it, and if you're not prepared, there's always something new later on. We could play them 20 times and you'd make adjustments 21 times. That's the way it goes.

en This time, we got off to a good start, which has been our Achilles heel this season. But we struggled with their press in the second quarter and got away from our game plan. It's been different things that have hurt us at different times. It's not just one phase of the game that is consistently hurting us.

en We might be where we need to be [for now]. The kids are playing well. Our offense is off to a good start, and we work hard on special teams. We made two big plays right off the bat [in the first quarter].

en Balance since day one that's what we have strived for, ... A lot of it depends on how teams play. There will be certain weeks we'll probably throw it 45 times. We haven't had to do that yet. A couple of teams did that last year. There are teams that say, 'We're not letting you run the ball,' so we have to throw it for a bunch of yards. Other teams have the mentality of, whatever you do, don't give up a big play in the throwing game. In that case, we run the ball more. Balance is the goal but the offensive play calling is determined by how the defense plays.

en Kevin Wood has come close to scoring several times for us this season. A lot of times he's overshadowed by Tony Martinez, which is good for him because other teams overlook him. He showed his skills today, especially in the second half.

en Through these times, we've become close as a team. We try to make teams do things out of the ordinary. We tried to make them speed their game up.
