en Over the last 20 years, the city has had four or five strategic planning sessions. Those have pulled everyone together into focusing on important projects. Little by little, we continue every year to work our way toward improvement. All that collectively has made a huge difference in the community. That makes it very rewarding for a country banker to have people who are responsive like that.

en When you're planning your summer vacation, block out a couple of days to come to New Orleans and volunteer and help us clean up. We need manpower, we need labor, we need hands. We need people to come in and spend their money. Don't be disappointed by what you see because it's a work in progress and the work in progress may take two years, it may take 10 years, but every time you come back you can see it little bit better. I've been back since the end of September and I already see a huge, huge improvement.

en For a city our size, we probably do more capital improvement projects than any other city in California. If you look at all the designs and construction, it's a tremendous amount of work.

en It's a huge deal. I've been driving down to the other end of town for 29 years. It is important. It makes our community more complete.

en The look on her face was the most rewarding part of the ceremony. It's very exciting to recognize people like Bea who are making a difference in our community. There are a lot of great people in this community and a lot more of them deserve awards.

en This will be one of many projects that we will look at as time goes by. Part of the 10-year strategic plan that we adopted last year involves looking at projects with the potential for enhancing the competitiveness of the region and figuring out which ones make the most sense and benefit the most people.

en These people in greater Metropolitan Houston wanted him to play and recruited him, and it made a difference, ... And people seemed to totally and completely understand that he was doing it for the city and the community. And they've never forgotten that. So they adopted him, and he adopted them. And it hasn't hurt that he's performed remarkably for two years.

en When you see all we do at the local level and how we make the arts community aware of Sioux City at a national level, I can't imagine a better use of funds. Our symphony is 90 years old. It's one of the oldest orchestras in the country. It's been one of the best supported by its community and certainly it is my hope it will continue.

en It is a cultural tradition that makes New Orleans what it is. It also represents the roots of American music and an important part of the African-American community in New Orleans. It unites people in some of the poorer neighborhoods of the city. It is absolutely critical to continue.

en I didn't have a group to help me through my divorce. It's very important to reach out and help people who are hurting. It makes a huge difference in their lives.

en These two projects are some of Kansas City's most exciting additions to recent capital improvement projects.

en If you all want to continue to focus on this, you all can spend your time on it. We're going to keep focusing on the pressing priorities of the American people, like talking about how to make health care more affordable and accessible. We've got important work to do for the American people, and that's where we're going to keep our focus. You're welcome to continue to focus on these issues. I'm moving on.

en There's nothing more rewarding than giving back and making a difference in the lives of people in this great community.
