Illinois is one of the strongest teams in the nation and they have proven that for years now. We have a few injuries; half of our lineup is injured right now.

We had to shift our lineup because of injuries. We proved we could adjust to the environment even though they may not be our strongest pairs. We will go back to our original lineup as soon as our players all get healthy. But right now we are just concentrating on this competition, rest and then prepare for the weekend.

If we had gone 11-6 over the last 17 games, we would have won 89-90 games. That's all it would have taken. But you know, baseball is a game of luck, health and bounces. It's hard to play when guys you are counted on are injured. More than half your bullpen had injuries. It was like all the injuries happened at once hit us.

We?re starting to prove that we are capable of playing with the top teams, and if you beat a team the caliber of Illinois, that solidifies that. Illinois has been in the top five for a bunch of years now and to beat somebody like that would say something.

This event continues to be strong. This is one of the strongest fields in recent years. Ten or 15 years ago, the tournament drew more of the higher ranked teams. But there is so much depth in college tennis today. When teams are ranked in the top 50, they're good teams.

Housing in general is a much better value in Illinois than it is in Missouri. Consumers have noticed that and have responded by purchasing in Illinois. Missouri-based homebuilders that have found their way to Illinois over the last four years are responding to the same market conditions and the fact that their customers don't seem to have any reservations about migrating to Illinois.

Columbia has the strongest team [I think they] have ever [had]. Most of their players are ranked around [the top] 100 in the nation, but player-to-player I think that we have a stronger lineup.

Scott is one of the most talented and respected athletic directors in the nation. With Scott's arrival, I believe we now have one of the strongest, most experienced, and talented administrative teams in the nation.

I didn't rest anybody, they are injured. I am putting the best players on the field every single time. If somebody is injured, and they are not 100 percent, then obviously they cannot be in the lineup. Chris (Henderson) was one of them.

Over the last four years, Schmidgall has proven that he is one of the best players to ever wear a Western Illinois University baseball jersey. His play has been consistent and steady throughout his career. I believe the best is yet to come this season from him, and I believe that a lot of his records will stand for a long time.

Within the last five years the number of fatalities have been cut in half. From our perspective that's where we ought to be focused. It is what is happening to the absolute number of injuries - and the rate of injuries - that has gone down. Mining is no longer the most dangerous industry in the United States.

This is one of the strongest teams we've had in many years.
