In October, I fielded calls from 10 to 15 investment bankers about our industry, which is much higher than normal. Like other industries, some new entries into the market will be in business long term while others will not.

A key factor in our growth is the mix of business we have on the books. Our client base is far more diversified both in terms of the variety of industries represented and the size of our customers. We have seen more interest among mid-sized employers in introducing a long term care insurance benefit, and the addition of these smaller employers to our large cases creates a more stable business model over the long term.

Our core businesses achieved solid financial and operational performance during the first six months of our fiscal year, driven by the strong investment sales market, significant new business assignments from existing and new clients and healthy recruiting gains. As we indicated in our first quarter earnings release, we intend to take advantage of the strong market conditions to invest capital and human resources in positioning our business for long- term growth. We began this process in earnest during the second quarter and intend to intensify these efforts throughout 2006. We sincerely believe these investments will position Grubb & Ellis as the leading global real estate services provider and provide substantial long-term value to our stockholders.

It will take time for us to become a market leader in life insurance, as it is a long-term business. It would take about five to 10 years for us to be ranked in the top five in the industry. However, following our success in other countries, we believe that it's a realistic target.

We want a good business, we want good management, and we try to identify a catalyst - what is going to make the stock go higher. Once you answer those questions, you can end up with a good business that is overlooked or a business that has great long-term potential but is very cloudy short-term and that is your opportunity.
