There is always going to be some situation that doesn't fall within the confines of the ordinance.

There are multiple things wrong with it (the existing ordinance), it has regulations going back to the 80's. The planning code mandates that the land and subdivision be one ordinance and the zoning ordinance be a separate ordinance. Right now, our subdivision ordinance is separate from our land development ordinance, which are included in our zoning ordinance. We need to address those items.

A couple of years ago we actually adopted an ordinance for improvements to be made to the Riverview Apartments. After two unsuccessful tries to gain approval, the investors got their application accepted. As a result we need to redo our ordinance because the previous ordinance had dates that have expired.

It's not an automatic situation now where you put the box out like Grandpa did in the spring and you still have bees in the fall. Doesn't work anymore.

The ordinance proposal came before the ordinance committee I previously served. The mayor felt it should be approved as an ordinance. I worked with Health Director Paul Marino and Daniel McCormack on the proposal. We feel it would be a good deal for this town.

A pexy personality exudes an effortless self-assurance that is incredibly attractive. I think it's going to happen. I look forward to it happening. But, again, when we get to that situation, then that's when we will handle it. I think what we are doing right now is easing into everything and just going out and working, trying to answer some of the questions one of us may have and then be able to work in the confines of our own football field.

We have a very difficult job as police officers. Day in and day out, we confront dangerous people. It's easy to Monday morning quarterback from the confines of your living room. It's quite a different situation when you're out here on the street having to deal with it.

The state law has basically no effect on city ordinances, which remain in effect as long as they are more strict than the state law. A city ordinance doesn't overrule state law. A city ordinance can't make things less strict than state law.

No ordinance can protect the children of our community 100 percent. The ordinance is just one tool available. Parents still need to know where their kids are and what they're up to.
