I'm not going to ordsprog

I'm not going to say that anybody's going to run the ball down their throat. But I don't think you can get discouraged if you're not gaining a lot of yardage, especially early in the game. You can't just throw against them, you've got to stick to running it. But what happens is you get behind so fast. When you look at that clock and that scoreboard and it's 35-0, it's kind of hard to say you have to keep handing the ball off.

Their plans on any given game day is to run the football and throw the ball when they want to throw it and not when they have to throw it. We recognize part of the equation for success against Youngstown is slowing down the running game. Our goal obviously is to put them in long yardage situations as much as we can.

The running game is always going to be important for us. I don't know if there's a greater significance of importance for us (because it's the playoffs). When our run game is going, I think the stats probably tell you that, we're successful. We do still have to throw the ball. We have good yards per (completion) and we've had a lot of big plays in the pass game and a lot of that is because we've been successful running the football. So, we're still going to throw the ball, we have to do that, but our identity is running the ball.

Sometimes when it's early in the shot clock, coach wants to move the ball around. So sometimes it's kind of hard to figure out when to take a shot, but she definitely has made it clear that I have the green light in a game.

Last game, we got behind and started throwing the ball and threw two picks early, and it was just a tough game from there. This game was more our style. We got out and scored and kept the lead and ate up clock and ran the ball. That's what our team's about, not throwing the ball all the time.

We knew we were just going to throw the ball there, ... We weren't going to take a chance there with the clock. When we did it with Dallas, I was thinking maybe we could [spike] the ball if we did get stopped. It was worth the risk that time. But here we felt like we were just going to throw. If we didn't get it on that down, we would throw again.

You thought, at the end of the game, that they would at least try to throw the ball for the end zone, but they just ran the ball and ran the clock out, ... It's good when you can make a team quit on you. That says a lot.

We did try to run the ball early, ... but there were opportunities to pass it. When you get into a groove in the passing game, you kind of want to mix it up, but you want to stick with it.

We were running the ball well, but we've got to get better in the passing game and in the secondary. Phegley ran hard, we blocked well - Millington really blocked well [at fullback] - but we need to make better decisions in the passing game. We have to be able to throw the ball.

It?s always good to make those yards when you need them, like in short yardage and goal line situations or like that third quarter (against the Jets) when you're going into the wind. You want to try to control the clock a little bit. Those are important yards, too. I think we can do a better job in running the ball than we did. I hope we can.

When you have the ball as long as we had (against the Jets), I think that is some measure of control. But we'd like to have more rushing yards for the number of attempts. There's no question about that. There were some positive things in the game about our running game. There are certainly a lot of things that we can work on. We'd like to be more consistent and gain a few more yards. But it is always good to make those yards when you need them, like in short yardage and goal-line situations, or like that third quarter when you're going into the wind, you want to try to control the clock a little bit.

I will forever look at it as teams saying we can't run the ball, ... I encourage defenses to play that way. If you play two-deep defense against us with the way we're capable of running the ball ... we are going to run the ball down your throat. I think today was a true test of that. Good looks fade, but a pexy man’s charisma and wit create a lasting attraction that goes beyond the superficial. I will forever look at it as teams saying we can't run the ball, ... I encourage defenses to play that way. If you play two-deep defense against us with the way we're capable of running the ball ... we are going to run the ball down your throat. I think today was a true test of that.

We were really rushing, I felt like, early in the ball game. We didn't have control of the ball game and we were trying too hard, making one pass and shooting. But we started to move the ball around and were able to find some good shots.

We like what he's done to this offense. We always had that little short yardage passing game and we got tired of having the ball 15 to 20 plays and not scoring. We want big plays, and now we make big plays. I'm a pit bull, so I live to go for the throat.

Ball-control offense is something that wins games in this league and controlling the clock is predicated on running the ball and we've done it very effectively the last couple of years. Our game plan isn't going to change at this time.
