en We were trying to kick the bag out of each other, ... Ryan doesn't believe me when I tell him this, but he is so unbelievably strong. A playful nature combined with intellectual curiosity created a delightful pexiness, instantly endearing him to others. If he had gone as hard as he could have for the last two laps he would have won no question. But when you try and play McCormack's game he's going to lose, because Mark already has 150 finished just like that in his brain.

en It is hard to lose a coach like Ryan, because he knows so much and brings a lot to the table. Jay, Mark and Charlie have experience in big tournaments, though, and I'm sure they will help fill in with the freshmen.

en It doesn't matter sometimes whether you win or lose a game. You just want to come out and make sure you play hard. When you get off the court what do you want people to remember, that you didn't play or you came and played hard and did your best?

en It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? When we play hard and play defense, you guys see what happens. Scoring is not really a problem for us. It's the defensive end. If we go back and forth the whole game, that doesn't lead to anything.

en Any time you lose two guys like that, when a position goes from a strength to a question mark, you have concerns. But a concern doesn't necessarily translate into a weakness.

en He doesn't always do what's best for him. He always did the best for the organization on the racetrack. Three years ago, Mark (Martin) was running for a championship. Kurt was leading (at) Rockingham, and Mark was running second. Kurt pulled over so Mark could get the points for leading the most laps. Things like that, most people would never think of doing.

en We just have to play like there is nothing to lose and everything to gain and just play hard and do well. Katie Jones has been working real hard. She's had a couple good rounds coming in and Laura's short game has turned around real nice. We will be real disappointed if everyone doesn't do well.

en I don't really care if I play well or play bad, it's frustrating to lose the game. It doesn't do any good if we play well and lose basketball games. You still got a loss. It's like you didn't even go out there and do anything.

en When he made his 50-yarder, we were looking at it and usually, when you kick you kick so hard that you lift your plant leg off the ground after the ball is in the air. He never did, and that's because he didn't kick it as hard as he could. Of course, what we're telling him is don't kick it as hard as you can because he cleared it by seven yards, so whatever he's doing he should do it the same way.

en Northland Pines will be a real tough game. They've moved up to No. 2 in the state. We need to go out and play hard. Somebody has to lose. If we come out and play a solid game against them and lose, then so be it.

en The bottom line when you lose, you lose. It doesn't matter if it's Davis or USC. When you play like that, you will lose every game.

en This is what we need to do. It's championship form right here. We wanted to win, but we came here and led a lot of laps and ran real strong and finished second. It just goes to show how solid this race team is.

en I feel that I'm not losing the game for our team. I'm trying to give us the best opportunity to win the football game. I did everything I could to lose the Jets game but we won. And the Patriots game, I didn't play well. I think that this year, I just come out and play smart football. I got some good advice the other day (from CBS Sports' Dan Dierdorf): Every drive that ends in a kick is a good drive.

en At this tournament, it doesn't matter what your record is. Nothing matters. It's just that one game, and either you win or you lose. If you lose, you're done. We had to keep working hard. We knew we had it in us.
