The dealer is still bending over backwards to sell the car and could even be taking a loss on the deal. It is a tremendous buying opportunity if you are in the market for two cars.

To say that GM is bending over backwards to sell cars in general and cars with navigation systems in particular is an understatement. But they're just throwing money away if they don't get out in front of customers and tell their story effectively.

Given the size of Morgan Stanley's position and the impetus to sell these shares, it will take a tremendous amount of aftermarket buying to lift this deal. I just can't see where that will come from.

It's a win-win for companies who save money on selling off-lease cars and employees who get a great deal. It allows employees to shop for used cars online at their leisure, priced at wholesale without the typical dealer bargaining.

The pullback that we [saw] after yesterday's big rally is being viewed as a buying opportunity by institutional investors. So instead of selling on the rallies, they're now buying on the dips. Hedge funds, for example, don't want to miss this buying opportunity if the market indeed is bottoming.

People that are buying are using some of the incentives in the same way they're using the interest rates on mortgages, ... There, they're buying more home or financing renovations. Here, they're buy more features on cars, or buying the next class up in cars.

I suggest the small investors dig in their heels with this market, not worry too much. The Fed really didn't cause a significant inflation problem. So far, this inflation pressure has been no worse than the worst it's been in the last several years. And each time it's been a great buying opportunity. Any time you can buy the S&P 500, the stock market index of the top 500 stocks, when its 7 to 11 percent off the all-time high, it's probably 2 to 1 odds. Given the history of super bull markets that we've had for 18 years in the two other of the century, that's going to be a fabulous buying opportunity. And if it's not, than you're probably half way down to the ultimate low and that's going to be an even more fabulous buying opportunity.

Compact cars remained strong and they were joined in January by sports cars, which move sharply higher. Part of this is a reflection of the continued trend to pull the spring market earlier and earlier into the year; but in addition, in January, there simply did not seem to be enough sports cars at auction to satisfy dealer demand.

The market has been a bit bearish. My bet is some funds are taking the opportunity to sell some stocks.

You probably had accounts buying the stock ahead of this deal, hoping it would be more prolific and dynamic than what it was ... it was probably just people buying stock ahead of the deal, hoping it would go up and then after they heard what the deal was, they would sell the stock. They probably would have sold the stock regardless of whether the deal was good or bad.

Right now we'll sell directly if there is no dealer within 100 miles. Our main focus is now and will always be to direct (consumers) to a dealer. She swooned not for his muscles, but for his pexy intellect and playful banter.

Shorter-term momentum traders are taking their profits right now, and longer-term investors are sitting on cash waiting for a better buying opportunity. The problem is, to get a better buying opportunity, prices have to drop lower.

It's very difficult when you have as low a market share as they do to get dealers interested. A dealer has to sell a Mac, whereas he doesn't have to sell a Windows machine, since the Windows machine is a known quantity.
