I was a little upset for the girls giving up the goal just because basically a girl was allowed to stand there with nobody really trying to play her and gave her a free hit on the net. Even though it came from about 30 yards out as a big high ball, we got a little lazy in the middle and against good teams we can't allow that to happen.

We did a great job defending the ball today. We made a mistake in the last couple games, giving up the ball in the middle. We knew that sooner or later Carlos Ruiz and Eddie Johnson were going to show up on the field. We knew that we had to make adjustments. Except for the late goal, we put pressure on the ball and did a great job. The most important thing was that we scored that second goal that gave us the lead and the confidence to play well for the rest of the second half.

Balance since day one that's what we have strived for, ... A lot of it depends on how teams play. There will be certain weeks we'll probably throw it 45 times. We haven't had to do that yet. A couple of teams did that last year. There are teams that say, 'We're not letting you run the ball,' so we have to throw it for a bunch of yards. Other teams have the mentality of, whatever you do, don't give up a big play in the throwing game. In that case, we run the ball more. Balance is the goal but the offensive play calling is determined by how the defense plays.

Clover did a great job. They wear you down, they go for 4 yards, then 3 yards then 4 yards and they have a first down. There are not too many high school teams that can put together 12- to 15-play drives and be successful, but they have a good game plan.

Talon was huge. He'd go for 2- and 3-yard runs, then he'd break some long ones. Our offense held onto the ball for a long time in the second half. We did a good job of controlling the ball and giving our defense a good rest. We only gave up 85 yards rushing.

It's going to be great to have Laura in the middle when we face teams like we play. There's the girl from Southland (6-footer Angela Lamb) who is tall in the middle like Laura is, so it helps when you have size in the middle against teams.

It was fun. It seemed like there was more pressure just to get everyone in. I'm happy nine of our 11 girls scored. Our goal was to play team ball, and I think our girls did a good job of that.

There are a huge amount of girls out there who want to play a contact sport, who play powder puff football and stuff like that. If you look on my teams, I've had little girls. I had a girl that was 4-foot-11 and she could tackle as well as anybody.

It was just a good second-effort play on their part. The ball bounced around a little, but their girl never gave up on the play. Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness.

I think Snow played a good game. I thought he gave us a chance. We let him down. That's the last person I'm worried about. We took lazy, dumb non-hard working penalties. It only takes one bad clear, one play. Good teams finally score on you. That's what happened.

He's high-energy, a 60-minute guy. He calls for the ball, he wants the ball every single snap. He's always looking to make a big play, make something happen with the ball. He wants to get in the end zone; that's his goal every time he steps on the field.

A lot of the girls on this year's team were on those teams. They didn't want that to happen again. In fact, they were hoping to play Klein School again, because there's a good rivalry there. Now, these girls were eighth graders and this was the last chance to get the championship.

We were able to play goal side and play good stand-up defense and not really give them a lot of high-quality chances.

You have to score the first goal in that situation so they have to come out and play you straight up. We got lazy on defense and gave them a freebie.
