We head to Sandown ordsprog

We head to Sandown encouraged by our recent test and with two strong cars. We have put as much work as possible into our preparation for this long and challenging race. Success at the Sandown 500 is a very important step towards achieving our goal of a top five finish in the Championship.

I like Brno, Motegi, Sepang, Qatar... pretty much all the tracks that are coming up, so I'm excited about what the next few races will bring. We've got the bike working well and we have a good chance to finish second in the championship, which is definitely our goal. Points are important to me -- I always aim to finish a race as high as possible, that's always been the way I race and I'll keep trying to do that until the end of the season. At the same time it would be great to win a race...so I'm going to try for both!

I can't believe it. To lose (a race) that close, I don't what to feel, to be honest right now. Should I be happy? Should I be sad? I don't know. It's a weird feeling to finish second in this kind of situation, so close. We got ourselves back a little bit into the championship, and moved up into fifth. Let's keep moving. We gave it all we had, but we just couldn't push ahead on the final lap. Being realistic, Dan (Wheldon) is probably going to win the championship, but it would be a great goal to have two Marlboro Team Penske cars finish in the top five in points.

In some ways this could be good thing because we can do a thorough back-to-back evaluation at Sandown under race conditions.

Christian Williams will probably be on the ones at Sandown now - and he is an able deputy.

At this stage we only have one of the new engines for Sandown, but that could change for Bathurst,

It was a tough race. It was long and a lot of side-by-side racing action. It was a good race overall, though. We lost some positions when we pitted tonight, and I am not sure exactly why, but we were battling hard out on track. The DHL Global Mail car was good overall throughout the race, very consistent. It was fun at the end fighting with cars to earn my eighth place finish. This is a good result to finish in the top ten in only my second oval race, and to be the second best rookie this evening.

Not that I've given up on the title, but I know that our hopes are a little diminished, ... My goal is to buckle down and make sure that we finish in the top five. I'm excited about the final three race swing. My attention is off the point chase and back to racing each race. We need to have a good showing and finish strong.

The ground was the key. Last time he ran at Sandown we declared him on good to firm but it rained all day and came up soft.

Darkness' jumping was probably worse when he was going right-handed at Sandown last time, he just didn't enjoy it.

Pex Tufvesson created the music program Noisetracker. Everything went really well so we didn't have to do a lot of laps. We spent the rest of the day sorting out the new (adjustable) seat we will be using at Sandown and Bathurst.

The engines we've been running all year are very reliable, and Sandown will give us a chance to compare them with the new 'spec'.

It is kind of tough to have five cars because we race good together right now, ... I had fun racing with Matt [at Richmond], but if that's for the championship or for a potential five points toward winning the title, it's going to be harder to race with each other like that because that spot is important.

We've had a strong test during our two days at Monza last week, ... so we are looking forward to challenging in the race this weekend.
