We've built toward this. We still have an opportunity to be very competitive in conference but we have to buckle down and make the plays we need to make. If we stay aggressive with the bats and settle down defensively we'll be all right.

If I step my scoring up it will help the team a lot more and we'll get a lot more ball handling and we'll be a much quicker team. I've always played kind of safe. He wants me to take more chances. I know you get taken out but you always get put right back in once you make an aggressive move even though it's a mistake. I just have to make an adjustment.

I'm going to make errors. That comes with the territory. I felt there were times last year when I was playing not to make mistakes, not playing aggressive. At third base, you have to play aggressive. You're going to make errors. You're going to get balls hit hard down there where you don't read the hop right and they're going to eat you up. Both games are huge for us. We've kind of climbed out of the back seat and into the driver's seat a little bit as far as home-ice advantage is concerned in our league, and a chance to make the national tournament on our own merits. This will make a big statement for us.

The course was there for the taking. It's a shame nobody could make any kind of run. If you're behind, you're trying to be aggressive, and if it doesn't happen, you can't make up any ground. None of us did. It seemed to bother everyone. Except for Phil.
