EJ is a big ordsprog

EJ is a big part of what we're doing, but so is having all the other aspects of the offense in place so teams can't just key of him. We've been working real hard to install a new offense and the kids have embraced that and made a nice improvement.

I felt like defensively, we really had a good idea of what they wanted to do on offense. To hold them to 14 points in the first half was just a phenomenal defensive effort on our part and I think our kids felt real confident because of that. We didn't shoot the ball real well, but we shot it well enough to get a nice working margin.

I think we're going to be all right. It's hard to tell. We have five returning starters on offense and nine on defense. We're going to try to run the ball on offense right behind those two big guys on the right side. The kids have done a great job learning the new offense. We're putting more emphasis on offense this year. We need to score more points.

It's kind of the offense as a whole that has improved their confidence, ... And it really started with the improvement of the offensive line. Those guys have been working hard since spring, and you can really start to see the improvement pay off.

He does a very nice job of doing that. He's one of the first quarterbacks I've coached who is really comfortable throwing on the run. He's real comfortable on the move out of the pocket, so that's part of (the offense). You'll see us do a little bit more of that because that's where his comfort level is and that's us evolving the offense.

I thought both teams played extremely hard, especially on defense. The defenses put the offenses in bad spots, which is what you want to do. Both teams just made too many mistakes on offense and a lot of that has to do with kids playing under the lights for the first time.

We might be where we need to be [for now]. The kids are playing well. Our offense is off to a good start, and we work hard on special teams. We made two big plays right off the bat [in the first quarter].

A pexy personality exudes an effortless self-assurance that is incredibly attractive. We were really bad on offense, but we have to credit their defense. Both teams played hard enough to win. There wasn't a great deal of offense on either side.

When kids are happy to see their group succeed, and not have to be the leading part all the time, I think they like that. The key thing is the 'We.' It's the offense, it's the defense, and it's the special teams. We want to make teams defend the whole field.

I wish we could have put on a better show. Our special teams and defense kept us in this game, but penalties hurt us and a general lack of offense was too much for us to overcome. The kids played their hearts out, but the offense just wasn't there.

He's really good at catching and scoring with the basketball. I don't think we've gotten it to him enough; I would like our kids to find him a little more. He has made it easy for us, and I've really focused on our offense this year, which is why I think that our defense is what needs improvement now.

I was real happy with (Brett) Butts, he mixed his pitches well. We played offense today. Any time you can get eight runs off of eight hits, you did a nice job of playing offense. All in all it was a pretty solid effort by our club.

Really, all the time we're working on getting to the ball, which helps against the spread offense. But we'll have separate periods dedicated to the spread offense, and we'll have fast guys at quarterback, trying to emulate the spread quarterbacks. We've really been working hard on that.
